No. Just because he scored in the champions league doesn't make him any better than championship standard at best. Celtic only qualify by virtue of the fact they are the best team in a very very poor league.

I dont disagree with that but surely he is worth a shot? Why does sturridge get picked when he gets about 30 mins a month playing for chelsea

I wouldn't pick Sturridge either but I would be more inclined to pick a top championship striker who gets forty six competitive games a year at a good level over Hooper who doesn't really play much competitive football now that Rangers are in the third division.

surely Hooper deserves a few games to see if he can cut it at international level though? picking players from the top teams for all these years has hardly done us much good has it?

That argument can be applied to about ten strikers though. I don't think there will be too many changes in the squad - same old players, same old *****.

Here's a better question >>>>> After years of watching them under perform why do you still watch them, you can watch these players when they're trying week in week out for there clubs, so what's the point watching them when there on a brake from club duty coasting through games, England games are just all expenses paid holidays for some of the highest paid players in world football get together and compete against each other as to who as the biggest wage best bird and nicest watch

Try every week in the Premiership instead of playing 6 "cup finals" for Celtic?

I don't watch England anymore for some of the reasons stated above and a few more besides.

So you think Hooper would do a better job alongside Rooney than say... Defoe? Or Welbeck?

Sorry but its a no from me too.

    Is this a serious thread?

Do people seriously think Gary feckin Hooper is international quality?

    Deary me.

Next thal be suggesting Scott Wiseman partners Joleon Lescott in defence.

Looking at the squad that's been selected, I think the defence is decent, especially the full-backs. No qualms with the four strikers picked. And whilst the midfield does include James Milner and Tom Cleverley, it's still pretty decent.

I too have been impressed with the former Hanson School pupil originally from Basingstoke.

I don't rate the good friend of Jacob Butterfield. In fact, I believe his former schoolmate, and teammate at Carrington is actually better than him.

I think the former strongest sperm in Mr Cleverley (senior's) knackers will be a full England International for a long time.

I really hope you are wrong about the young lad with the rather ironic surname. But I look at the former Leeds United and Aston Villa midfielder that has pinched cap after cap, and feel you may be correct in your assumptions that Master Cleverley will emulate Mister Milner.

As opposed to Ross County, Dundee, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and St. Mirren every week? Get a fecking grip.
