    Thing is wizzo has hit the nail on the head.

    Wakefield has spent a bit on redevelopment around the bus station and heavily advertised it in well... Barnsley.

    Doncaster has the frenchgate? Shopping area...

    Barnsley has er nothing until2015 when a debenhams may open.

    There seems to be over the last five years an influx of bottom end retail shops... Pound land, savers, 2 icelands and planning permission granted for another supermarket in the town centre which will hammer another nail in the town centres coffin.
    Yet Barnsley has something unique. A proper meat and fish market, a proper market set up. The only reason I really visit the town centre.

    I left in 2004 but came back in 2007

    I love it here, regardless of the town centre. There are loads of great places around the area and in my opinion all towns cities, north and south, home and abroad, have areas that can be described as shitholes.

    I'll never leave again.

    Bang on.

    Too many fowk pretending to be summat they're not. The reason that Tarn is struggling is that the educated/earners leave the area so it's left with low paid workers. If people remembered where they came from and gave a little back then it might be a little different.

    I'd love to live nearer to the ground and with me working in the South East of Wakefield would make sense but I'm married and don't have a say in anything logical.
    If the ground could be moved closer to ossett by our new owners it would be appreciated!
