Why do people feel the need to drink that much before a game then get in to ground late and then cause a problems to other fans. People standing on seats row In front. WTF.
They've been working all week and the only time they get to let there hair down is the weekend, so they have a piss up before the game and end up in a state,
I've not a problem with people drinking before a game. But if your going to, make sure who aren't going to be a compete d**k in the ground.
Phil plenty a time we've been drinking before a game and turned up near enough 3pm. Rather that than sit there waiting for the game. Chill art.
I got there 15 minutes into the game yesterday and there were a ton of blokes still preferring to sup pints rather than watch the match?
There's having a good drink and getting leg less for the sake of it, though. I'm no saint when it comes to having a beer before matches, but I do have respect for the people round me. Had 2 dickheads come and stand in front of us 10 mins into the game. Bloody ignorant *******s they are, but it happens every away game without fail. If you ask them to sit down you get a gobfull of abuse. Luckily they pissed off to sit with their mates at the back.
Unfortunately, among our fanbase lurk the moronic dregs of society. Lidl store back in Barnsley must have been deserted yesterday.
I can remember going Stockport on a boxing day and the entire away end turned up at five to three. I do agree that it has been known for people to turn up pie eyed. I have more than once however the people shouting it down the loudest are often those who aren't allowed/ don't drink.
I got there at a similar time. The coach parked at a different place to when i went last. Was walking around ground. Asked someone which way to go and he told me wrong way. ended up having to walk around to other side of ground.
You one of the prawn sandwich brigade then? God i wish we could go back to the 80's and 90's when there was passion amongst our fans, not like the 'college type' we have now sat down quietly spending their time moaning about others having a beer and a sing song.
I didn't see a kick in first half. I preferred to catch up with some mates I hadn't seen for a while over a beer. I wouldn't want to make a habit of that, but I'm glad I did.
I used to have several drinks before home and away games with a good bunch of lads - Steve Cannon etc We never would ruin the match for others - it is correct to say we do have a moronic element who attend away games , get pissed and do ruin the game for others - standing up , vile language at times sprinkled with racist abuse , approach them and get a mouthfull , why ? they are not fans , plain and simply they are morons.
i thought the atmosphere was spot on yesterday, if that was becuase half the fans were **** faced then nice one, hope they do it for every away game
Nothing worse than being on the end seat up and down every 5 minutes because the tools at the other end of the row keep needing a piss
Was wasn't it? Barnsley won as well. West brom a couple years later was also awesome if not ruined by over zealous club stewarding
Why do we criticise ourselves so much? The moronic element of our support is far smaller than most other clubs, you hardly ever see any trouble at matches (and by trouble I mean actual dissorder). I haven't heard a single racist chant for a long time and the 'offensive' chanting is few and far between. Re yesterday, I'd say far more fans than normal were drunk, far more. We had the best atmosphere I've heard since Bramall Lane two years back. Now I'm not linking the two, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to make the connections. I realise there may have been one or two problems at the front but at the back everyone was singing, dancing about and having a great time. That was a proper away day. I think people have to accept that our away following will never exist on perfect harmony, such are the differences between how people percieve a good time. But I strongly believe that if we want a noisy atmosphere, we have to accept that one or two of those generating it may not be teetotal or polite angels.
