On the day that Barnsley beat Birmingham 5 0 for all the nation to see, it was inevitable that all attention on this message board had it's attention on this remarkable performance. It was on this day that I aired a very uncomfortable thought that had bothered me ever since the truth became known about the actions of South Yorkshire Police's deliberate attempts to cover up the truth at Hillsborough. It concerned me that the same people spreading their take on the events, which were readily taken up by the gullible press, were those who provided the prevailing view about the Miners Strike. Again the press, heavily biased towards a Tory perspective, portrayed this view as the truth about the incidents during that awful year. To my knowledge, though viewed by quite a few on this Bulletin Board, it went by without one comment being made on my post. Today on BBC news new revelations are coming out about the possibility of police statements being deliberately orchestrated to give the view of events that someone, no doubt high up in that organisation, wanted the world to believe. It would appears that my fears have been borne out. There is always two sides to every story but it would appear that only one very biased view has been given due to very questionable actions by those who should be defending the truth. I wish to God that I had been wrong.
It would, but the truth is I dont. I am indifferent to the Sun and find one political party very much the same as another. Do not have any strong political views but come from a mining family and found a lot said during the mining strike unfair and hurtful. And more than likely from recent events - untrue.
Nothing on the Daily Telegraph website about the information that's come to light about Orgreave. The cover up by the Tory supporting press persists.
