As a ST holder I'm getting depressed at seeing the crowds getting lower every season!! Something serious has to be done to get some people back before they go down anymore! It's become a joke! BFC fans must come to the table though as well, do the people of Barnsley want a championship team/even a team full stop!

Every other team gets bigger crowds, prices are very similar/higher elsewhere, we have low pass prices! I know our form is up & down (more down) & the area is in tough times...but again so is everywhere else! I just feel that it is embarrassing that we can't even get 10000 minimum crowds, less than 8000 home fans is just a joke! The Blackpool gate helped with a good away following should be a average gate for Barnsley in this league. I agree the club don't help with a lot of things, but the fans need to back the team much MUCH better!!

It doesn't matter what other clubs are doing, charging etc. Fans aren't paying £28. Full stop.

At least 8,000 paying customers every time they play suggests to me they do.

    No fans aren’t paying £28.

But at the same time they didn’t pay £12.50, £17.00 or £20.00 on occasions either.

A host of small league 1 clubs and even Rotherham and Doncaster are bettering us at times.

Not sure what makes Barnsley any different to some other places in the country for not paying the prices. A town with a population of around 250.000 now can do better than 8000 surely? And before we say that the town itself is around 90,000. Wombwell is in Barnsley but not listed in the 90.000 figure.

Donny haven't had higher crowds this season, their highest league attendance is 6,555, our lowest is 8,088. Nowhere near. You can discount Rotherham's early attendances too, the novelty soon wore off on their new stadium. Their prices are cheaper than ours too, obviously.

Attendances are down everywhere, people would rather spend their money elsewhere. I don't blame them either. £25/£28 for a hour and half entertainment and your not guarenteed that.

Oh and Barnsley's the smallest town in South Yorkshire.

No, I see no evidence to convinve me that many really care (unless we're in the premier league or playing a big club).

The £28 fee the unorganised pay is overused as a reason.

Amazingly I think people think bottom half of Championship is poor each season. Ironically crowds will go up if we top 2 in League One - but I know where I want us to be.

You can save now for next season via club stamps. Not wait for April then panic saying can't afford lump sum for what will be very competitive ST price again.

It was very public that season tickets could be paid in interest free instalments.

This could have been broken down to roughly £35 a month if bought at the earliest opportunity and minimum payment until the end of the season. That is obviously based on the cheapest Adult ticket in the Ponty.

Half price season tickets for the first time buyer, on priviso you commit to buying one the following season. Either paid in advance or on 12 monthly instalments through the first year. Bums on seats, cash in bank - everybody happy!

Or you can put your £300-£450 season ticket money towards your family holiday in the sun each summer. Nowts gunna change until we've fully recovered from the recession and folk have excess money to play with. At the end of the day its a football club, a hobby, not as important as life or family.

    And Bill Shankly talked ballax.

Agreed, if folk have a bit of spare cash and turn up then so be it. Not worth worrying abart, we arent the only club with dropping attendances.

From Keith Via Andy Giddings on Twitter

Keith Hill on lower attendances: "I think it's happening right across the board. It's indicative of the current financial situation...

it's very difficult to go and watch your local team. We are really pleased with the supporters who turn up...."

It is difficult when you have to make 2 journies to save a fiver.

JUST SIMPLIFY THE PAY ON THE DAY PRICE FFS.

Stop trying to punish occasional attendees and legislate every possible conceivable customer friendly process out of it.

Not you Keith, you da bomb.

    I started going in 1974. I had a season ticket from 95/96 to 2011/12.

I got fed up of enduring matches rather than enjoying them - apart from the first half of last season.

The final straw was when they told me about the magnificent 'discount' I would get if I renewed at the end of April. Same price as last year.

If there's one time when I'm not going to renew that's it.

So I didn't and I thought I'd really miss it... but I am really surprised as I haven't.

I went on Tuesday and paid £20 (after I'd worked out whether a Gillingham ticket stub would get me in for £28, £8 or pick any price you want)

I realised that I'd got out of the habit of going and that the game had little interest to me. I am really quite sad about that too though.

I have utmost respect for all that keep going and support the club and I shall always look out for the results it's just I'm not bothered about being there anymore.

    Dave

ps -not that I expect any special treatment but the club did not make any contact with me in any manner apart from sending me the ST renewal forms. I know that if we lose a long standing client then I make contact to find out the reason.

cue abuse from the 'you're not a proper fan' crew ! :)

How did you feel/react when Perkins curled his goal in ?

I don't think i'm as passionate/interested/committed as I used to be - for many reasons - but I still went mental when that went in.

Actually it is the be all and end all, and shankley was right. There is only test cricket that can compare, and even that, given it's exquisite drama and tension, can only equal a wet Tuesday away win at Preston north end by THE MIGHTY REDS. Whipsnade wi yer snidey wife and disappointing two chubby kids ain't gonna come close
