'Barnsley is a proper **** hole though. The ground is dated and dull, despite being of the same era of grounds like ours, and the fans are generally mongs too. It's not a threatening atmosphere by any stretch, just the incessant 'scab' chant from seven year old kids starts to get a little tedious. Plus, we never win there. I'd rather travel three hours to Bristol than the thirty minutes it'd take me to get to Oakwell, frankly.'

Ground dated? One stand is the rest has been built since the Hillsborough disaster. Exactly the same as their ground.

Considering Nottingham is one of the most over-hyped, over-rated, dangerous and scruffy places I've been to, they have little room to talk. Every month or so another horrible crime is reported from Nottingham. And regarding the Scab chants, I bet it won't even be kick off before they trot out the 'You'll never work again' ditty, with accompanied digging gestures.

    Laughing at this comment...

"Barnsley must be one of the most depressing places I've ever been to. What kind of a town has a level crossing going through it"?

I think the same thing every time I get stuck behind it :D

Let's go to Nottingham and have a gay old time in a city famed for gun and drug crime.

    Indeed

and in typical football forum style it then digressed into a discussion about level crossings. Excellent. But to turn ours the same way...

Never thought about the level crossing much but on balance I think I'd rather have a small level crossing with the associated inconvenience than the alternative, which would be a dirty great dark railway bridge, complete with graffiti and an overhead pigeon **** run-the-gauntlet hazard.

just about shows how narrow minded and simple some folk in barnsley can be , how about supporting our team not shouting scab at a group of fans who have/had nothing to do with what happened nearly 30 years ago.

ffs it's what football fans do. they'll be coming here singin you'll never work again etc.
and how do you know there's no miners in their group that hadn't anything to do with the strike.
and has for younguns chanting scab that weren't old enough to know, well my thinking is if it hadn't been for the scabby b's in nott,s their futures would have been a whole lot brighter and just cos its nearly thirty years ago makes no odds the implications from their actions are still being felt in places like barnsley and roth etc,
