I think I, and others, are just running with the label we were given when we declared him as our guy. A fair bit of humour and sarcasm seems to go over some heads. Too much of a serious now or never vibe amongst this forum. Remember, remember, Keith's tache of Movember. DNA.
Re: I like him Sorry Mark but I do know, I know for sure that Slade is not anywhere near the calibre of manager that Hill is. Just look at his record and you will see that we were spared from disaster by not appointing Slade. I said so on here at the time and I stand by every word.
I think it would be suicidal to get rid of hill. (honest opinion). If robins had the same budget I think we would be bottom without a single point mwahahahaha.
Seems to me that the Club's at a crossroads like it was in 1978 prior to the appointment of Allan Clarke as manager. In 1978 it wasn't a badly run Club, far from it, we were producing some promising youngsters and in the later years we were consistently in the top half of the table under Jim Iley's management but we never looked likely to kick on under him. Under Iley the real progress was made off field with the launch of the Lottery. These were the funds the board tapped in to get Allan Clarke to the Club. Fast forward to 2012 and we have a manager making steady but unspectacular progress on the field but unlike 1978 I fear off the field is where we've gone stale. We're still running with the Centenary draw, isn't it about time it was revamped? The Club's 125 years old this year and may be something new and something different to engage the imagination of the wider Barnsley public is required. Just may be a bums on seats bold managerial appointment a la Allan Clarke is also needed, excuse me for dreaming a moment but given his recent public utterances Ryan Giggs would tick that box. Yes it would require investment but that's what you do if your business is going stale you freshen it up to attract new customers.
No Don Rowing and PC looked for a manager.... ... who could do a job within the budget restrictions we have to work with. Hill & Flitcroft fitted the DNA. Robins left because he wouldn't or couldn't work with those restrictions. And can you guarantee better calibre managers applied? Or are you just stating what you believe is fact but is probably rubbish?
I like the way that Flicker never gets any credit and he is the one that develops the players more than anyone. I`d rather lose Hill than Flitcroft not that I am advocating that, few people are really, but lets make a song and dance about it eh.
DNA, endeavour, miracles worked by keef... Just covering up his shortfalls, his inability to pick his strongest XI, constant lack of plan B, a team devoid of any pace or urgency
Some of you Barnsley fans are getting more fickle than the Owls and Blades. WE LOST so re group and get to Hull. We cannot get and buy who we want and only Hill and Flicker can develop players in the way they have done since they arrived. We need another Shackell and Davis back. My personal view is wiseman and Foster do not gel and we need to address the problem. We also need to be more direct through the middle at times and break into the box quicker and not into the corners. See you at Hull
So you would mask the off field problems by sacking a popular manager who 'is making progress' and replacing him with someone with no managerial experience, the charisma of a cardboard box, and a personal reputation in tatters because he can't stop himself from sh@gging anything that moves?
Without multi millions pumped into player recruitment we have to take the route we are doing now. Unpalatable to some, but sorry, that's how it is.
Sorry but you don't need to spend millions upon millions to get the basics etc right or give your full backs some cover. I'll be happier next week after stuffing hull.
In your opinion that is, not mine. The ball needs to move forwards not side to side, get the passes moving forwards and we will look better and cause more problems to the opposition than passing the ball across the field then back the across the field , forwards 4 yards then across the field , then back 4 yards , then across the field, then losing the ball, getting it back and starting all over again ! Thats my opinion mate.
Re: I like him No you do not know anything of the sort, you think you know,, but that is just your opinion, that is all!!!
Yep, let's sack Hill and get Guardiola or Ferguson in. Or a football player who has zero experience of football management.
