And if you could get those tools then you would be able to get that new job.
And the worst thing about it is that you know how much those tools cost and you know that if you could get them then you would be very successful in that job.
The tools are not expensive but you just haven't got the money to buy them.
    How frustrating must that be?

Now think of how frustrating it must be to be Keith Hill - who knows who he wants but just can't get those players because they are just out of his reach.

Most football managers are in the same position - had a similar conversation with a Carlisle fan who was complaining about the money notts county are throwing around. Way of life now in football

Thing is - I think Barnsley are not able to compete for any of the players that Keith Hill wants.

Us fans are frustrated ............so how bad must it be to be working there week in week out and know you are so close and yet so far away

Just thgink back to why Hill was appointed in the first place!
He and Rowing made a big thing about how he could work with no money and get results.
What I think has happened is that he now realises just how hard it is to do that at Championship level, not in the fourth division.
Plus the fact that him spouting about how everyone else has more money than him , takes away the focus of how ***** we were yesterday(and every other loss).

He aint as good as he thought he was, but he aint as bad as a lot thought he was going to be either.

    Keith would say....

It's not that we don't have the right tools, but some of these tools are still in the box and haven't been used to fulfil the maximum potential. It's my job to open that box and look after those tools and polish and nurture with them desire and develop them with belief and find that dna that takes to make a Stanley out of a Draper. We all know John Stones is an 18v De Walt XRP XR Drill/Driver of a footballer, but he's young and you are not always going to have that spare battery when you need it. And if you do you have to remember to put it on charge the night before or it will under perform. I'd love to go out and buy a Bosch GBH 36 VF-LI 36v Rotary Hammer 2 x 2.6ah with Quick Change Chuck, but I have to be realistic and operate on a budget that wouldn't keep a budgie in seed for a week never mind bring in the quality we need to maintain.... our championship status - and I would urrrrrrrge the supporters to get behind mine and Flicker's vision for a Poundland layering because we can't compete with the Halfords of this world and we have to.... etc etc

That's a bit like applying for a job in accounting, telling your employer that you only need an abacus to work with because you're so good at maths and then complaining that you haven't got a calculator once you've been given the job.

Keith Hill got the job because he doesn't need money to be successful. He made a huge deal over how brilliant he is at working with nothing and how he doesn't need money. To complain now that we are **** under hill because he hasn't got any money is like an accountant applying for a job saying he only needs an abacus and then complaining that his boss only gave him an abacus.

Hill and Flicker have done a fantastic job with the players they have brought in.
BUT.........there's a huge gulf between the players hes got and the shed load of players that such as Forest have got

I'm not saying that Keith should be trying to compete and spend money like Forest have done
What I am saying is that it would be great if Keith had just a bit more money to spend
Because if anyone lets Keith Hill have any money then we would certainly be at the other end of the league table

    How do you know that?

Danny Wilson was great at getting players in on the cheap, when he got some money to spend on players he bought Eric Tinkler, Ales Krizan and Georgi Hristov !!!
Ok he also bought Barnard and Ward (later)m but when he was let loose with the purse he didnt do a good job of it. So why do you think Hill would do better? Hill is not even doing as good a job as Wilson did with little money.

We had over a million for Butterfield. Offered 400k for Norwood. So there was money there. But the club plugged the gaps caused by their own failings. And, that is a reason a lot of fans aren't turning up.

Wilson only bought established players.....because Barnsley was in a position at that time to be able to compete for those players.
Hill dosen't..........he develops players, usually from lower leagues, with potential.
Therefore if Hill got players already established .........and then developed those players..........what then???

A good craftsman never blames his tools, it's how you use them

    Danny only bought established players?
Martin Bullock, Darren Sheridan, Arjan de Zeeuw, Darren Barnard, Clint Marcelle, Jovo Bosancic.
Not to mention the plethora of youths he gave a chance.

what if you had a certain tool that was feckin useless at what you bought it for, so you decided to try the tool for something else instead because you are too stubborn to realise you made a **** up buying the tool in the first place

now think of keith hill again
