That's 437 now. Sitting ducks waiting to be shot just so our feckin politicians don't lose face. Get them all home NOW!
It's sad two more have died but they should be kept out there to carry on the great job they are doing. Lets not forget these people joined the army out of choice so will have expected to be put in war zones. Also if they were brought home then what? Thousands more soliders we would no longer need so unemployment would go back up.
The British will do no good there. If the Russians couldn't do it what makes anyone think that we can. As soon as we pull out the rebels will take over.
The tragedy is that if we pull out then all those who died will have died in vain whereas if we stay more will die doing a job on foreign soil; doing something that will count for nothing when they do leave. Lions led by donkeys. RIP.
Problem is that all those that have died AND every further one that dies in the remaining time there have all died in vain as this is an unwinnable war. We should get out now.
I have to agree. We gave legitimacy to Bush's lunacy. We should have paid heed to the past as we've been there before and the Soviets got bogged down for years there too. RIP all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
We have tried to impose western democracy on a society that lives about 300 - 400 years behind ours and neither wants western values or could hope to implement them. It truly is a hopeless task.
The problem is that 'society' harbours elements that is intent on destroying western society and has demonstrated too many times that it is able to cause carnage in the Western world. Also, home of Al Queda training camps etc. Would a withdrawal be viewed as victory to the Taliban and then the repercussions from this cause more widespread problems elsewhere.?? It's a tough one that's for sure.
