It's called having an opinion. You don't think Redders would be a good manager - fair enough, you aren't alone with your thoughts. But I wouldn't be averse to it, he'd be my 3rd choice behind Davis and Tisdale. Opinions. You kind of spoilt it though by doubting him as a player - best player I've seen at Oakwell, for many reasons. Not the most talented (that's Hignett) but the best all round player. Captain marvel.
Position for Position I can say I have seen vastly superior players in their respective positions over the 50 odd years I have been watching the reds. As for managerial potential, no way, I have said before that he would probably make a very good youth team coach with his enthusiasm for the game but as a first team coach, no way, look at his efforts so far, nuff said.
totally agree. similar things were said about glavin (now he was a player ) and he proved he couldn't hack it as a manager
So that's 2 players... Hignett who you could say was technically a better player than Redders, but in no way could you argue that he was a better player FOR Barnsley than Redders.
redfern is up there with glavin as the best attacking midfielders, scored goals, passion, always 100% even when our boo boys gave him crap, and they did!! despite more clubs than tiger woods he spent ages with us, and wilson n co flogged him for a quick million before pissing off, albeit a good price, but he was irreplaceable, don't know if politics took over with hendrie getting the job in the pipeline before?? but agree, not sure he is manager material, at pro level anyway
That's what I said - technically better. But in no way did Hignett contribute as much as a player to BFC as Redders did.
I have been watching the Reds since 1975, I can assure you I have seen much better players than Redfern.
