...in their negative opinions. Why not look at the positives? It's possible to be optimistic about a team without coming across as arrogant or having a chip on your shoulder - like our neighbours who win one game and suddenly think they are promotion challengers. The Forest result was unfortunate, and not many teams will go and get anything at Hull this season. So what if Hill was playing for a draw away from home, he almost got one, although again I'm annoyed that the BBC have jumped on this "bad day at the office" thing for any team that plays us when the voice-over bloke claimed Hull hadn't played very well. Obviously because the BBC would have expected little-old Barnsley to concede at least four at Hull and not just the one. We are very competitive in this league and by no means out of our depth. Fair enough, we're never going to be challenging for a top six position but the top half is easily within reach. Hill has realised that he needs a decent striker if we are going to progress and I'm glad he's realised that Harewood isn't the player he used to be, nothing against him but we need someone younger and more mobile. If Mido didn't think he was capable of scoring goals here he wouldn't have come so once he eventually gets fit and gets some game time, he will be like having a £2million player dropped into the team. We have been lacking options which has meant Keith has no alternative plan, I'd like to see us play more direct and look to capitalise on errors by opposition defenders when we are lacking penetration with our passing game. Particularly at home as teams will generally always line up more defensively and play deeper away from home. Keith's options should improve when the like of O'Brien are fully fit, Toni Silva may also be an asset as I saw in pre-season he has excellent pace even though he is a bit raw at the moment. For me there is nothing wrong with the playing side of the club, it's just the commercial side which seems a complete joke. The biggest b0ll0ck they dropped was dropping the original category system and basically fixing the price of all the games to the Category A price! I'm not saying the category system was any good, but people had got used to it to an extent and there was more of an awareness amongst people who didn't go to every game of how much the tickets would be. I thought the e-flyer thing they brought out for the Burnley game was a p!sstake - so many variables to consider before you could actually calculate what the ticket price would be for you personally I honestly thought someone had knocked it up as a joke. I'm still non the wiser as to how much it will cost me to attend that game or how I would be able to claim a discount that I may or may not be entitled to? Marketing in general is poor, and seems to entirely rely on their Facebook page. Maybe they should also stop focusing all their marketing effort on getting people to subscribe to player and be more pro-active in doing things within the community or the town centre...put posters up in the windows of closed shops etc. Remember the 'Reds in Town' shop? Why not bring something like that back but also include a box office as it may be more convenient for people to purchase advance tickets in town. The apparent ineptitude of the commerical team at BFC is one of the main reasons I'd like to see us be taken over as any new owners would see that the current lot are a waste of snap. Anyway, back to my original point - stop bloody moaning about the team, a lot of the players will read this board (who wouldn't be googling their own name if they were slightly famous?) and it really can't help their mentality and commitment to training and ultimately in the games. Keith Hill claims to know a lot about what the fans think - again, probably from reading the sh!te on this board and others like it. Went on slightly longer than I wanted to - bet there's a right skin on my gravy now!
Re: It's almost as if half the board want us to go down so they can feel vindicated.. Or on the other hand, Keith hill isn't as good as he thinks he is.
Re: It's almost as if half the board want us to go down so they can feel vindicated.. On the other hand there are a lot of bigger name managers who've spent a lot more money than him who have a much worse record. Some people on here would be dancing in the streets if we got someone like Paul Jewell in, yet he's spent millions at Ipswich and has only recently been sacked after hanging on to his job by a thread for the last 18 months.
Re: It's almost as if half the board want us to go down so they can feel vindicated.. Here we go talking about money again, round and round in circles. I'm sure he knew this when he signed.
Re: It's almost as if half the board want us to go down so they can feel vindicated.. There are only 4 clubs below us, one has got rid of their manager because he was not up to it, so just how many of these bigger name managers have got worse records than Hill?
Re: It's almost as if half the board want us to go down so they can feel vindicated.. He has options, all over the park. So much so that he farmed out two of his defenders on loan. He has Kennedy to compete with Golbourne. Hassell should be a certain starter, and if McNulty returned before Cranie, why did the latter walk straight back in yesterday, while the former continues on the bench? Scott Wiseman must play is the only answer I can think of. Jim O'Brien has been out as long as Mido, yet after 45 minutes reserve action, he's a sub. Whilst Mido, fit for weeks and with games behind him, isn't in the squad, despite our apparent lack of options up top. I am sure a player of his calibre can manage 20 or 30 minutes as a sub. If Keith is waiting for him to slim down, he'll have a long wait. Mido has always had a bulky figure. Just as Le Tissier did, Holt at Norwich too, plus many more. I just don't buy it that he's got no options. Next game, I'd go with these: . Steele . Hassell Foster McNulty Golbourne . Cranie . O'Brien Dawson Cwyka Silva . Harewood
Re: It's almost as if half the board want us to go down so they can feel vindicated.. £ for £ owen coyle for a starter
Re: Agree completely Jedstar. Just as is the told you so`s when we win, or even if we only draw!! Also to be fair it seems that there are more after a bad result , purely because we have lots more of those than good ones. Swings and roundabouts mate.
Re: It's almost as if half the board want us to go down so they can feel vindicated.. Who does he manage at this moment in time? No-one so that logic is flawed.
On the occasions When we've won and/or played well, I posted a couple of times that people should refrain from snidey, smart @rse, point scoring comments towards others and enjoy the victory/performance. Unfortunately, it appears to be a one way street as, when we lose, it's certainly not reciprocated.
Re: It's almost as if half the board want us to go down so they can feel vindicated.. How much did Peterborough and Bristol City spend during the summer?
Re: On the occasions when we win we should celebrate/enjoy when we lose , we should reflect , the behaviour and attitude of some on here when we lose is quite frankly laughable , overeaction to say the least some would have a new manager after each defeat , when questioned about a 'sensible' alternative to hill the answers given again are laughable
Re: It's almost as if half the board want us to go down so they can feel vindicated.. Peterborough have a net spend of over £800k this season. Bristol City over 1.1m.
Re: It's almost as if half the board want us to go down so they can feel vindicated.. What about Millwall, Palace and Boro? Their net spend etc? TIA
Re: It's almost as if half the board want us to go down so they can feel vindicated.. But money is a major factor regardless of him knowing about it so it's going to be brought up.
Re: It's almost as if half the board want us to go down so they can feel vindicated.. It is obviously on his mind a lot lately. If money has become such a big thing with Hill , maybe he should have the balls to say " Sorry, but I cannot work any longer under these conditions" and walk away, like Robins did. No-one will think badly of him for doing so. If he still thinks he can do it, just get on with it. Put up or shut up!!!
Keith plays right into the hands of his critics almost every week. There's no shortage of ammunition with which to attack him. Last week, he had a left back in the wing. This week, no centre forward. He's also a mass of contradictions when he speaks to the media. Maybe this is deliberate, but it's a dangerous game to play. Of course, none of this matters when the team is winning. Keith doesn't have that luxury.
