'kin 'ell. Only the best come from Wombwell. You might've known some of us Dyson's, then... 99-04. Head Boy. Have that.
Head boy back in my time meant something else. I do remember a Dyson from year below me. Craig Dyson i think.
Yes I was there between 74 and 81 - dont think I have any pics though. Bit sad its closed now and I am struggling with the logic of moving a school from the middle of a housing estate so most kids can walk - we all did when I went there to an out of town location where most will now be driven. Have they started demolishing it yet?
Sithi I lived in the Sir Georges Arms on Hough Lane for a while. Twas a dump, but an ideal boffing ground. Oh yes.
89-94. I also held the cross country record of 17m 50 sec, beat a kids record called Heath, records went back some years an all. It was still the record when our young un left abart 1997/98 ish. Thats my claim to fame, can't run for toffee nar.
Too heavy for me them, l was more like Wombwell's answer to Moses Kiptanui, we weighed abart the same an all.
17 mins 50 seconds was my best ever time too and that's the truth. Did you do same route as us? Up past golf course down Tingle Bridge Lane at Hemingfield then along canal bank then come out at the back of Lundhill Tavern.
cross country was always same circuit. A killer coming up hill from Lundhill Tavern. I played football for Britons with mates Frank Beaumont and David Barber. Both played for Barnsley later. Frank has just passed away with dreaded c......r. Anyone know where Ali Barber is nowadays.
When I did it the golf course wasnt there used to run up to the park down past where the golf course is now past a burnt out tree and into hemingfield past the school then tingle bridge etc There was also a longer route we used a few times when you came out from the tavern you went straight on until you hit the path to hemingfield back up to hemingfield then back the way you first ran out there.
