We've got to give him a chance but those stats are bloody awful. I hope things click for him here because if they don't he is no better than what we have and it will just a complete waste of time.
waste of a wage, not a premiership striker, he's just at a premiership club !!! poor signing in my view.
Some people have seriously short memories. Jon Walters was bloody awful for us and has gone on to become a regular premier league striker. It does happen that players have a poor season & then kick on the next time they are given an opportunity. Another year's experience, another pre-season under his belt, could we not just try to show at least a hint of optimism every now and then?
I'm not sure who you all were expecting us to sign - I mean I know adebayor is frustrated at not starting for Tottenham every week, but..... Come on. Keith has signed some dross, but has also unearthed the odd diamond in his bargain basement signings. A bit of pace up front sounds just the ticket to me. Gerrim in't team
If we do sign him, I hope we play him up front along side Harewood and not fighting for scraps on his own or stuck out on the wing.
Looks like he's got some PACE which will be a welcome addition. Harewood & Nimely up top for me. Looking forwrad to giving the lad a chance(s)........unlike some on BBS who have made their negative minds up already?
MadMark.............read the thread............should be clear to you who are already "negative"........I'm not one of 'em. But there again, the lad ain't signed yet !!!!! Makes Keith's team selection (strikers) tough tomorrow.......just hope Mido gets some game time to start proving himself.
He is a decent player get off his back . His movement is very good and as pace to burn . Get behind him
Are you meaning Dreamy ??? Just because he points out the player has scored 1 goal in 27 matches at this level? Or Springvale for having an opinion? Looking at his stats he is no better than Dagnall at this level, I have no opinion on nhim, because I have never seen him play, (I dont think), but seeing as our problem is not running about like a scolded cat(Dagnall) and it is actually scoring goals! Then it seems like he is not the right signing, because he aint going to score the goals needed, just looking at his record I mean.
Problem with getting strikers with good goals/game ratios is that they either :- (A) if they play in Prem/Championship, they cost a lot of money that we aint got or (B) they are lower league players who will always be a gamble at Championship level Bottom line is that we haven't got enough cash to spend and this dictates the type of player we get ie. a young and upcoming player from Man City. Hill & Flitcroft are in a now-win situation really.....unless they get lucky ocassionally?
But the trouble with this lad is , as I see it anyway, he has played nearly 30 games in the Championship and scored just 1 goal, just because he comes from City it does not automatically mean he will set the Championship alight. We need a scorer, not a runner, someone that will convert the few chances we get, because with the system we play we are never going to create very many chances and we HAVE to score from the few we do create. Unless we are going to change the way we play then I cannot see how playing another player in the same mould as Dagnall, up front on his todd is going to work.
Agreed we create very few chances, so maybe answer is formation needs changing? I've always preferred two wingers in a 4-4-2 as it generally creates more, assuming wingers can get decent crosses in, which JOB and Silva can?
But that would mean Hill accepting he has been wrong with his tactics and he says he is "football intelligent" , so I think we maybe sticking with what he likes best, last year he played Davies wide remember and I am certain that he did that [partly because the fans were saying Davies needed to be in the middle, just look what happened this season with him in the centre, now just who are the intelligent ones again? Sorry I forgot to add, 442 is dinosaurish, so therefore a no goer,
I don't buy-in to this 4-4-2 being old-fashioned.............usually the best tactics (in sport and in business) are the simple ones !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
