Yes, superb film - saw it last week. Quite different from the formulaic "Bond films" - there is a story to be told and it is told very well. More than enough spectacular special effects but is more than that. The acting is top rate and, I think, this one is the best Bond film that I can remember. Hope nobody has given you any inkling of the ending. I certainly didn't see it coming
Let me put it this way - we are not talking spectacular here, as in the end of the world is about to happen but the tension build up is gripping. I won't say any more - just enjoy a damned good film because that is precisely what it is
Saw it last night, beg to differ I thought it was entirely predictable. Far too long for my liking too, though the build up of tension was pretty extreme. Don't get me wrong it was entertaining, and spectacular, and I think they did make an effort to dig a bit deeper with the plot, but it was exactly as I expected. ... And all this Daniel Craig stuff ... Don't get it. People have been swooning over his performance. I thought he was a bit wooden to be honest. judy dench was excellent though. Good entertaining film, but predictable was the word that we both used. Kids loved it, and want to watch more Bond films though, which is a right result, as that will keep them amused with their Aunty for hours on end.
Re: Saw it last night, beg to differ You're the only I know (or reviews that I have read) that thinks that. Each to their own, I suppose. Anyway, we're off out to see it tonight - will tell you what I think later.
Re: Saw it last night, beg to differ You must be joking. Mummy and Daddy night out - planned months ago! As for predictable story-lines, I must be the dumbest person out there as I can never work out what's going to happen until it actually happens - even with Disney films, ha ha!
Re: Saw it last night, beg to differ Ah well, when you do a crappy Phys Ed degree, you get an option called "films and learning" which involved watching Bond films, and analysing every detail of them. I probably should direct the next one. Enjoy your night out.
Re: Saw it last night, beg to differ Its a Bond film - so you generally have a good idea what you are going to get. I thoroughly enjoyed it most of the plot was predicable because Bond films have their own structure but there is definitely the odd surprise I didnt see coming wont say anymore as dont want to spoil things. On the acting side Dame Judy absolutely perfect, as was Javier Bardem as the baddie and I thought Daniel Craig was pretty good too - Hope you enjoy it
Re: Saw it last night, beg to differ The Baddie was indeed well creepy. Daniel Craig ... Just don't get it. About as charismatic as a plank of wood.
Re: Saw it last night, beg to differ Tremendous. That's all I will say. Wouldn't mind going to watch it again.
Re: Saw it last night, beg to differ I agree, great bond film but I still say Adele sings Cwumble instead of Crumble in the title song.
To be honest I've never got the whole Bond thing, I've seen most of them especially the later ones and they've been ok, maybe it's because you know that what ever scrape he gets in to he will be fine but I have been told that this one is a cracker and nothing like any previous Bonds,
FANTASTIC. after the opening scene all the yanks were clapping and cheering. i see what you meant about the end and set up nicely for the next one as alawys it got a full a round of applause a whopping and cheering at the end too. These yanks love the brits the just wont admit it LOL One thing noted during dinner doesnt Daniel Craig run funny. Hes very upright all in all absolutley fan bloody tastic. dont know if youve seen Argo yet or indeed if its out in the UK but that is one good film too.
Seen all the Bond movies and although the early Connery years were my favourites, I'd go as far as to say this one's the best Bond film of them all. Brilliant villain, special effects etc and jokes not quite as corny as in the past.
Not surprised it got that kind of reaction. Nothing like that at the Aylesbury Odeon but I'm sure everyone there enjoyed it. I certainly did and I would imagine most who have seen it will have seen it as a different kind of Bond film. Gone are the massive aircraft hangar sets with small armies of boiler suited "soldiers" shooting badly and inevitably dying just before the big explosion that threatens to end the world, or some other apocalyptic event which Bond always, somehow, manages to avert. A cracking film from start to finish so highly recommended
