You haven't missed much. Most "standard" Norwegians beers taste like Carlsberg, Tuborg etc.

There has been for some time now very few breweries in Norway, so there has not been to much local beer to choose from. BUT, the past ten years has seen an increase in micro breweries, so it's starting to be a much broader selection of beers on offer.

    What about Finnish beer?

    Nogne beers are amazing

They've started appearing in the UK. Love their wheat beer and I don't normally like wheat beer.

    Some of it's good!

(The first three words of that are a hyperlink, but it's not very obvious - on my computer, at least.)

Ah, it's pretty much the same as in Finland then. The most popular beers taste very ordinary and bland, I probably couldn't tell the difference between Carlsberg or Heineken and some of the Finnish ones.
However, during the last few years we've also gotten some different kind of beers from the small(er) local breweries, and while I can still only dream of all the various specialties that they have in Belgium or Germany (etc), the situation is a hell of a lot better than it used to be. :)

He IS Dragon Tyke. I don't quite understand why he keeps swapping between accounts but the rules state you are allowed one account. Please make your mind up Sheldor/Dragon Tyke

Having been in both countries recently I would say the mass produced beer is poor and very expensive, especially in Norway. However found a resto in Helsinki selling micro brews which were fantastic. No such luck when I was in Norway, though can't say I really tried as the missus was pregnant at the time.

In Bergen, at least, we have several places with a good selection of beer. We have one place with nearly 50 draught beers, in addition to a wide selection of bottled beer. Should be something for everyone.

But in the super markets you won't find such a good selection of beer.
