interesting read http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/...orough-united/barnett-gets-the-boot-1-4489063 Tyrone Barnett Fined two weeks wages and placed on the transfer list. Ferguson wants him out of the club as soon as possible. He remains suspended from London Road until next Monday (November 19) for his part in an incident in the early hours of Sunday morning which saw police called to New Road to deal with public order offences and for which two Posh players were arrested and cautioned. Rotherham. who are managed by Barnett’s former boss at Crawley, Steve Evans, have already made an approach. Nathaniel Mendez-Laing The 20 year-old is another player Ferguson wants out of the club as soon as possible. In fact the 20 year-old winger has already joined League One strugglers Portsmouth, albeit only on a one-month loan. Mendez-Laing has been fined two weeks wages and placed on the transfer list for his part in the same incident as Barnett. Emile Sinclair His fine has been waived because of the words chosen by Ferguson to ban the players from going out after the defeat by Crystal Palace last weekend. Ferguson did not use specific enough language which has enabled the PFA to force Posh to cancel Sinclair’s fine. He remains on the transfer list for football reasons, but he is available for selection this weekend. He returned to training today following a three-day suspension from London Road. Sinclair had left the city centre before the police arrived last weekend. Gaby Zakuani The club captain has also seen his fine waived for the same reason as Sinclair and, following a chat with Ferguson, is off the transfer list and available to play against Blackburn after returning to the club today following a three-day ban. Ferguson is still very unhappy that Zakuani chose to go out after the Palace game even though he believed he had warned the players not to venture into town. Zakuani could even play against Blackburn because of an injury to Mark Little. Zakuani was not allowed to talk to the media today. His status as club captain is currently unclear. He has not written his captain’s programme notes for the Blackburn game. Ferguson explained his decision-making process at length today. He said: “This all started straight after the Crystal Palace game last weekend. I would not normally share what is said in the dressing room, but the very last thing I said to the players was about the need for all of them to be more professional about certain things. “Everyone knew that included a warning not to go out into town that night. If we had a Tuesday game I wouldn’t have to say anything as they’d know not to go out, but I thought I had made myself clear enough that going out after that performance would be wrong. “So what happens? Four players decide to show total disrespect to me, the club, the chairman, the fans and their team-mates by going out. “It just shows a lack of common sense. Peterborough is a small place. I’m not saying that the players can’t ever go out, but what I am saying is don’t go out when we’ve been beaten, when we are as near as damn it bottom of the league, and when we have played poorly. “On Sunday I started getting e-mails from various people, some from fans even, informing me of the players’ behaviour. I was furious with them and on Monday morning I called everyone at the club together, including the youth team players, and I simply dealt with it. “Most of the players agreed with me. If I was a player in that dressing room I would have wanted action to be taken. I believe there won’t be many fans criticising me for what I have done. “I know Gaby Zakuani is a popular figure, but if he thinks he has done nothing wrong then he needs to think again. I know he tweeted some stuff about going to church at 8am and always giving 100 per cent, but giving 100 per cent is surely a given anyway? “Because I didn’t specifically use the words ‘you are not to go out tonight’ I have had to withdraw the fines for Gaby and Emile. They’ve taken advice and that’s the outcome. “At the end of the day all those two did, unlike the other two, was have a night out. They were stupid to do that and they have admitted they were stupid and if it was still up to me I would fine them two weeks wages. “That is exactly what will happen in the future. Any player having a night out in the city centre after a defeat will now be fined. “Obviously some people will wonder why I acted so quickly and didn’t wait for further enquiries to be made, but quite simply I wasn’t in the mood to wait. I was angry and I wanted them all out of the building. “I spoke to both Emile and Gaby yesterday (November 16) and they will be in the mix for this weekend. Not the other two though, Mendez-Laing has already gone and Barnett will stay on the transfer list. “Enough is enough.”
Reading between the lines he's gone out of the lash after a defeat, there's been a fraca and he's given someone a slap. Minor misdemeanour in Keith Hills book, only just meets the minimum criteria/DNA.
Re: Reading between the lines "what new player ? he's been with us months - you just don't notice anymore"
Good on Fergie Jnr. I agree it just doesn't look right a player in the town centre enjoying himself after a poor performance and defeat. If Keef brought that in here though our players would be indoors most saturday nights.
Re: Reading between the lines Can imagine him scanning down the BFC bank statement: D Rowing, B Taylor - Pimms - Loftus Road - £185.00 Monthly Rochdale transfer installment - £5,000 B Taylor - Tonys Barbers, Racecommon Rd - £3.00 Peterborough FC - transfers - £1,500,000.00
Although I can see where Ferguson is coming from, can an employer really have so much influence on an employees social life? Since when was it legal to have your wages docked for leaving the house, even if your manager expressly forbid you from doing so?
Desperate to get them out of the club, how bad must our offer for Barnett have been for him to reject it?
On closer inspection of our offer it came to light that the shell of the blackies egg was indeed cracked.
If we're to appeal to the next generation of fans then having bloods on board wot slap haters is the way to go. Boy.
Word. Team full of playas. I'd force Kelvin to go out in Town after every game banging bitches and laying the smack down on town centre kids.
Bring it closer to da commoonity. We're nowt anyway until the News Of The World, sorry, The Sunday Sun have an expose on nightcub antics involving our midfield and youth team.
