Small bit in Chronicle saying Andrew Lodge is on trial for allegedly fraudulently claiming £2500 of expenses from the paper. Shame, I know many on here have their opinions on him but I thought we was a good journalist.
Re: Don't know if I'm months behind, but seems we finally know what happened with Lod Been known for a while that.
Re: Don't know if I'm months behind, but seems we finally know what happened with Lod Certainly better than the hysterical wannabes in there now. I had a lot of time for his Dad, used to enjoy his enthusiastic, honest and knowledgable reports in the Chronic and on Radio Sheff.
Re: Don't know if I'm months behind, but seems we finally know what happened with Lod Enjoyed both Lodgies on Radio Sheff, better than the ***** ex Red we normally have with the monotone voice.
Re: Don't know if I'm months behind, but seems we finally know what happened with Lod Biggest difference for me between the sports pages in The Chronicle now and how they were under the Lodges is that they no longer have an opinion piece, an editorial. The Lodges reported the games and relayed the words of the managers and the players, but they also gave an opinion and offered constructive criticism. If the club were doing something wrong, you'd hear about it. There's none of that now, it's just a mouth piece for the club. That's fine on the BFC official website, but I would hope for a lot more from an independent local paper. Under the Lodges the client always appeared to be the reader, the person buying the newspaper, and the articles were written for them. Now the client appears to be the football club and every effort is used to tell their story. It's moved from a newspaper to a promotional pamphlet. All imho of course.
Re: Don't know if I'm months behind, but seems we finally know what happened with Lod his was on hallam
Re: Don't know if I'm months behind, but seems we finally know what happened with Lod Agree with that to a point. But last week's headline regarding Hill and the fans getting him sacked would never have been prompted or endorsed by the club or any of the staff. Yes, Keith has a bit of an unruly gob at times but to rip something out of context to exaggerate some sort of rift between himself and the supporters is just reckless, amateurish sensationalism. It's more akin to self promoting tabloid hacks on the make, rather than the accurate, informative reporting that we were used to from the Lodges, particularly the senior. I really believe it is a sign of the times. A foul hybrid brought about by easy access research via the internet, spoon fed, manipulative soundbites of internal press officers and the attention seeking little media graduates raised on low brow print journalism, dumbed down TV and social media websites. One of the things I like about Keith Hill, in fact the thing I like most about him, is how he refuses to play and just blows it out of the water. Yes, he uses it himself for his own ends and yes, he could do with an edit button wiring in between his brain and his gob, but he refuses to conform to the sausage factory that it so obviously is. Half of what he says or - is trying to say, is lost on most people but at least he's nothing but entertaining.
Re: Don't know if I'm months behind, but seems we finally know what happened with Lod Yes you're right, Lodge Senior was Hallam. They had the lead on sports coverage back then.
Re: Don't know if I'm months behind, but seems we finally know what happened with Lod I heard about it a while ago but he was a good journalist and I did enjoy his work in the Chron. I also agree with Jay that he told it like it was and that seems lost now.
Re: Don't know if I'm months behind, but seems we finally know what happened with Lod Well if you want the editorial filled with details of the Sports Editor's Daughter's dance class times then that's great. In my opinion, the team now seem to be "ahead" of the BBS on occasions, unlike the stuff I read on in the previous times, where stuff was essentially taken from here. Nowt against Lodge, but I think I read something every week in the Chron now that I didn't know, unlike what I read when Lodge was at the Helm... I already knew it, because I'd already been on here.
Re: Don't know if I'm months behind, but seems we finally know what happened with Lod I agree in a sense but I also feel that the news is 'ahead' in the same way that the news from barnsley one was as well which is something I don't want. If I wanted to hear the club's view on things i'd read the official site or the programme, the local media shouldn't just provide that.
Re: Don't know if I'm months behind, but seems we finally know what happened with Lod Well what selective memories some of you seem to have! As I recall it, under the Lodges (especially the latter), much of the the wording was repeated across all the differing columns on the back page making it very boring reading. It is much better now in my opinion.
Re: Don't know if I'm months behind, but seems we finally know what happened with Lod Didn't that made up story on here about the signing from Notts County end up in the Chron once? A player who didn't exist?! Jason someone?
Re: Don't know if I'm months behind, but seems we finally know what happened with Lod Keith Lodge was an enthusiastic, old school Barnsley fan and I cant fault him for that. Unfortunately he picked up on the practices of the present generation of new "journalists" who think a quick copy and paste of old interviews on a website will fill a column. Its lazy journalism. Fill a page, get home early. What about some original research, some investigational get off your arse stuff, some new interviews.
Re: Don't know if I'm months behind, but seems we finally know what happened with Lod That would be Jason barker, myself and big lil were obviously bored that day but it was very funny!
Re: Don't know if I'm months behind, but seems we finally know what happened with Lod Lodge or Murray? You decide...
Re: Don't know if I'm months behind, but seems we finally know what happened with Lod It could have been the start of a great journalists career too!
Re: Don't know if I'm months behind, but seems we finally know what happened with Lod Got to disagree with this ... probably a nice guy but very amateur journalist IMHO ...forever name dropping "famous" BFC supporters running buses, and talking nonsense abart his daughter .... shame is all ending in tears tho ....
Re: Don't know if I'm months behind, but seems we finally know what happened with Lod Before Keith Lodge were it Brian Steer that did match reports for Chron. Anyone remember.
