I sincerely hope you're wrong Mark. Drawing a line under Bobby's career at Oakwell will be a huge mistake IMO.
I believe it will cost Keith Hill his job. Maybe not immediately but it will certainly cost him any relationship he has with the fans and once that's gone the axe is sure to follow. Bobby Hassell and Martin Devaney, future BFC management team.
Bobby hassell is a squad man at best now and if he's not going to play he owes it to himself to look for a loan away to get games. He's been a fantastic servant to the club and I would wish him the best of luck if he does go and hope that when he looks into coaching he'd come back in some capacity!
You mean That's what you want to happen? Better managers have sold better and more popular players in our history without that happening. I rate Bobby Hassell highly as a player and even higher as a man. But the scenario you're envisaging didn't happen in the past and I don't see it happening in the future.
Am sighing like i`ve never sighed before Boss. It is helping me to come to terms with the possibility.
Re: You mean Not what I want to happen at all but I think it will. I think Hills relationship with the fans is so strained anyway that if he was to get rid of Hassell while keeping wiseman in defence that it will eventually cost him his job because as soon as things start to go wrong and we are conceding goals everyone will remember that Hill got shut of a club legend from defence. What I want to happen is for us to do well and finish top half.
Re: You mean Pretty much that. Keith Hill's job depends on results. Whether he plays Hassell, sticks him in the reserves, sends him out on loan, flogs him or releases him will have very little bearing on his position at Barnsley. I happen to think Keith has misjudged Bobby and he's well worth his place in the side, but it's Keith's team to manage not mine.
No Keith Hill's relationship with SOME of the fans is strained, not all. How long will it be before Hassell & Devany become the management team? Would you like to bet on it happening?
Re: No Hassell and Davaney? Quite a few years I'd say. It was based on something I saw on Devaney's twitter to Hassell saying 'future management team' about the two of them. If they became a management team I could eventually see them in charge at Barnsley.
That contradicts What Bobby was saying a couple of weeks ago, mate. He said he wasn't really interested in becoming a manager, although he was aware of rumours saying he'd return to Mansfield Town as player/manager. Coaching, on the other hand, was something he said he'd like to explore the possibilities.
