Was one of frustration, tinged with bemusement.
I saw the team selected just as I was about to set off, and even said to r lass that I ought to stop at home. I couldn't for the life of me work out why the worst 3 players that 'played' at the Reebok had retained their place in the team. I was convinced, upon leaving Bolton last weekend that Keith would finally see sense and drop at least 2 of Wiseman, Done and McNulty. They haven't done anything so far this season IMO to warrant their slot in our side. And after another poor showing from them, and with many other options available to us, AND with Keith stating he could no longer protect those who under-performed, I was confident that the penny would finally drop...
    .
So to see all 3 of them retain their positions, again, was very frustrating.
To see 6 better players sat on the bench also frustrated me. As did knowing that our best defender was sat at home wondering just what the hell he had to do to get a game for a club he's represented proudly for the past decade.
    .
Not only frustrating, but bemusing, was the sight of an average left winger on the right, and a quality central playmaker on the left wing. I couldn't understand the thinking behind these decisions, nor the selection of two defensive midfielders.
It was no wonder we rarely created anything for our strikers in that first half. In fact, I only recall a few decent chances, and all resulting from direct play - Long ball that Tudgay flicked on for Davies. And a couple of diagonals into the box that both Tudgay and Dawson fluffed when unmarked just yards out.
Our 'passing' was slow, pedestrian, predictable. As was our 'movement' again. But yes, Greening certainly slowed us down. If he's any better in that role than Cranie or Hassell then he'll need to improve tenfold.
    .
Done and Mellis looked lost, and ran about without success, often leaving the fullbacks exposed. And with Tweedledee and Tweedledum at centre half it was a matter of time before Cardiff got through. Which they did, thanks to Wiseman proving for the 6,000th time that a defender he is not. Luckily, Steele rescued us. Until Wiseman again didn't defend the corner and game over.
The 2nd goal was a carbon copy, and that is just wrong on so many levels.
    .
Finally, Keith made positive changes, introducing two quality footballers, and we looked better for it. And, on another day we may have got a result in the end.
RNL has been criminally overlooked by Hill, even to the point that some on here agreed that he wasn't up to it, just because Keith said so. Just as some say Bobby is past it, purely because Keith thinks it, clearly.
    .
So the last 20 minutes may have been positive, but for me it was frustrating. Because it proved that Keith had once more got his plan A all wrong.
And unfortunately, I don't feel confident going forward, because he will keep on ignoring the fact that his favourites are the worst players at his disposal. And if he gets the boot, it's clear why...

Only my 2nd game this season. Wiseman, Mcnulty, Goldbourne, Done and Dawson are simply not good enough. I actually think Dawson is the worst of the lot, runs around a bit, big deal.

Worry is every fan if asked to name weakest 3-4 players will give the same list. Yet bloke who been here 18 months pushes against it to try and show strength

Yes I think Keith is showing his arrogance "I know best" side of his character.

Done, McNulty & Wiseman are simply NOT GOOD ENOUGH..............I know that, you know that and ~8000 REDS fans know that.

I wasn't surprised at all to see McNulty & Wiseman in starting XI because they are his "favourites". Both of them make me nervous in their defending and distribution.

I was very surprised to see Done playing, especially when we had signed Buszaky and had O'Brien on bench. Done is quick but his decision making and use of space (and he had some yesterday down right side) is shocking. Couldn't lace O'Brien's boots.

I think the answer is there, you've only seen 2 games...Dawson is a pretty good workhorse,my first impressions were like yours..but I've realised he is a good player,Golbourne too can be pretty good although the last couple of games have been far from his best,I thought McNulty played pretty well last week at Bolton...and had we had Foster with him we could well have won the game,as for Wiseman he's Ok charging forward but isn't a defender, not in this division anyway...and Done has been disappointing since returning from injury,we definitely should have accepted the Palace offer for him.

Dawson has been the best midfielder in a red shirt this season, by far!!!

you say we had no chances or created no chance but we had 4 in first half. I couldnt understand how we hadnt scored in first half. Davies normally would have scored a brace but he didnt hit it well and put the othet over. Dawson took his eye off ball i think.

And in second we had more than first half.

I again dont undetstand how you didnt under the team.

If Dawson is so good why are there so many open spaces in the middle of the park? Will never argue about his work rate, but make youself available??????????

On paper he was the least exciting of our four loanees for me. Even now I worry about him being this seasons Michael Tonge of someone on paper with a good history who should do well for us, but ultimately ends up being a past it disapointment. HOWEVER it's way too early to be judging him yet as he's not played a competitive game for three months.

Once again, you didn't read my post correctly. Because I clearly stated that the way we set up, lacked creativity. But then stated 3 chances which came as a result of direct football.
    .
To the guy saying Bobby isn't up to it in defence anymore, what are you judging that opinion on? And, after clearing that up, can you then tell me that he makes goal/result costing mistakes in nearly every game he plays, like Wiseman.
    Thanks.
    .
And I never slated Dawson. My only issue with him would be the amount of 2 footed tackles he puts in.
