    Re: I like the lad

That is the problem, I said that a couple of weeks ago. The full backs go winging up field and nobody fills the gaps The other team avalanche us down the wings, a central defender has to go out and fill the gap and bingo free cross and free header. We have signed good players this week and Keefy had to err on caution until they settle in to club. A good centre half has still not arrived. We have not had a good defence for ages. The proof is how many goals we have let in. They are a sure bet for a couple of gimmes early on and then the team is playing catch up. We need to alter the passing game and play to our strengths. Play direct to the forwards we have got and let their defence worry about them. It will get better when he sees the light.

The problem was it took him too long to make the changes and his loyalty to certain players is going to cost him.

When the space is there to be attacked

I prefer to see one of the midfielders utilise it, rather than a full back who may not get his position at the back covered.

I prefer 4:4:2 with width. I prefer to see best players for positions in those positions.
I don't think Keith's formations are helping Stones or Goldbourne.
    We have no width.
I think his chopping and changing is very unsettling.
Pick a team, play 4:4:2 and get back to attacking teams.
What do I know? It's just what I would do.

    Nowt wrong with that

Personally, I believe a formation ought to be played which suits the players available rather than stick to one particular system come what may.

    Re: Poor Golbourne

I thought Golbourne was ok yesterday, but he has struggled a bit in recent weeks (after a promising start to the season). Maybe he was trying to do a bit too much and not concetrating on his defending. However, we are not party as to the instructions Keith is giving him - something we should bear in mind when assessing a players contrubution to the team.

So do I. But the evidence im seeing is that this diamond isnt working.

I think the available line up we have, would be more suited to a 4:4:2

Never played at our best in a 442 fired. There seems to be a problem in this country with this formation from the dark ages.

We are at our best in a 4231 formation. The problems are that we have what 5 strikers now. You could play one of the strikers wide and one up top in a 4231. Davies would be my wider player with maybe Tudgay up top who seems to be the better player in air.

    I don't know about a 'stingray' formation

But, with the players we have available at the moment, 4-4-2 played with width (possibly supplied by O'Brien & RNL) could work.

Who would you go with in the middle. Mellis at the moments our best creater of goals. I don't think he can play in a two and grown up playing for the last 5 years.

Damn I pad correcting my words!!!

    I'd go with
    Steele

Stones foster cranie gold borne or the lad from Peterborough/ Leicester

Jim o B greening mellis or busascky RNL or silva

    Davies. Tudgay

We have plenty of midfielders, so stop playing defenders in midfield.

    It's the iPad's fault??

    For shame, Fiona!!:D:D
I agree with what you're saying with respect to playing individuals out of position, especially when you've got appropriate options available.
