,,,how on earth do we choose a winner from the nominees for SPOTY? Not something I usually bother with in a normal year but there as so many 'nailed on winners' in this Olympic year . My choice is a complete cop-out : more space on the trophy and give it to them all. Team prize should go to the entire British Olympic team (specifically excluding the male football team) Realistically Wiggins for me ..... but then there is Murray (most Scots will vote for him) , McIlroy (most Irish will vote for him) Ennis, (who was the face of the Olympics and being a loker will attract loads of red-blooded male votes) then there is David Weir (inspirational) Mo Farrar (ditto) etc.etc. Its ike trying to choose from a Chinese take-away menu when you are starving!
Ennis. Even if its just for her backside lol. On a serious note, I can't say I know too much about some of the sports so feel I couldn't comment on how good their achievements were. Hence I could never vote
Definitely. Wonderful year for British sport. For me it has to be Wiggins, just for the relative scale of GIS achievement. But it staggers me that I'm saying that after Ennis and Farrah's achievements. And Weir would be a great shout too. At least that dull little sex pest won't win it this year (when Ennis should have won)
Wiggins for me - amaing achievement! Pity our footballers haven't covered themselves in much glory this year
Wiggins for me, but I think all the finalists are great. And there are many superb athletes who didn't make the final 12. Jason Kenny and Laura Trott both bagged 2 gold medals each at the Olympics, yet neither have made the cut. Amazing year for British sport.
god you lot post some crap ! its a no brainer - king prawn fried rice /curry sauce/beef in black bean sauce with fried rice
Looking at the list of candidates, I think the achievements this summer of Ennis, Wiggins, Weir, Murray, and Farah in particular were the most monumental, so I'd like to think it's any three from that shorter list. I'd love to see Jess Ennis win, so I'll say Ennis - Wiggins - Weir in that order. Sorry Andy/Mo!
.....Or any other year in my lifetime. Wiggins for me. Closely followed by Jess Ennis and Mo Farrah, although the mobot started getting on my tits in the end!
Along with Kenny/Trott - others that missed out and could well have won it in any other year include: Beth Tweddle/Louis Smith (Gymnastics) Brownlee brothers (Triathlon) Chris Froome (Cycling) Tom Daley (Diving) Jade Jones (Taekwondo) Victoria Pendleton (Cycling) Charlotte Dujardin (Dressage/Eventing) Johnny Peacock (Paralympic Sprinting) But then again, we are in a country where Crissie Wellington has never even made the shortlist...
