Re: Is a massive credit to those fans that can take things in context I thought it was quite obvious we played a little more direct last night.
Re: Is a massive credit to those fans that can take things in context Agree 100%. Losing faith and patience by the game.
OK understood. That would hint that the majority who are still behind Keith are more "confused" than Conan? I believe that most fans are still behind Keith and the team, so these fans must still see (or have seen something in the past) that makes them believe Keith is the best man for the job, at the moment........otherwise they wouldn't be singing his name? As I said in post above, Keith is learning some lessons.
Re: Is a massive credit to those fans that can take things in context Sheff Wed, Sheff Utd, Coventry, Plymouth, Bradford, Portsmouth, Preston Bigger crowds, more resources. Worse managers.
Re: Is a massive credit to those fans that can take things in context But we aren't evolving. Like anothe rposter has said we've brought better players in to play teh same way. What is needed is a change in style.
Re: Is a massive credit to those fans that can take things in context Redstar : do you not believe we were more direct and quicker in our approach play last night. Yes I accept we were far from perfect and still did not get enough crosses in when we had opportunity, but we were improved and are "evolving" if you compare last night to previous few games? Long way to go, but we are heading in a better direction...........
I was going to reply but Extremely Northern's hit the nail on the head. Different ball game, the Championship now compared to past years. We were on a much more level playing field in the 80's/90's now there's a huge difference between the money clubs and the smaller clubs in the division.
Re: Is a massive credit to those fans that can take things in context I'd disagree. Leaving aside certain individual performances the addition of Tudgay - up front at the side of Davies has given us far more options going forwards. We were given added width last night - although playing RNL and Mellis at the opposite sides to their natural footedness weirds me out. I wish he'd get the midfield to push on further but he's swapped a defensive midfielder for Buzsaky, giving us more options from midfield. We are obviously told to keep the ball rather than a long hopeful punt - that has to be allied with more movement when going forwards - something his new additions give us - Sinclair too gave a glimpse last night of what he can offer.
Re: Is a massive credit to those fans that can take things in context Do you think those three did it on a budget similar to Keef's or had to cut the wage bill down to what Keef's currently working with? All the Chairmen at those clubs have at least 3 times the money Patrick Cryne has.
Can I ask what you'd like the club to do, who would you have in charge, or what team would you play? You seem to have the need to voice your concerns and attack other people's views yet you don't seem to have much input yourself.
Keith hill was moaning in his interview after the game about the lack of crosses into the box. He said he can't understand why players seem afraid to put the ball into the area or make a killer pass. Pointed out hat we scored from the first proper cross . So I would have though he'll be working on that for the next game. Hopefully. crosses are key
He has just started repeating what fans have been saying for weeks, pandered to the anti Wiseman group cos he is trying to save his job and he knows to do that he needs the fans on side. A few wins and points on the board and cocky Keith will return.
Has he only just noticed this phenomenon in our play? If he doesn't "understand" how to correct this relatively simple issue, I'm afraid we've got major problems.
Come on Conan. There are so many things wrong with this. There is a huge difference between the old Second Division and the Championship. There were no parachute payments, and no rich foreign owners in the old Second Division. Apart from a few exceptions, there were no "big" clubs in the old Second Division, certainly none with the buying power of Leicester, Cardiff etc. The cash gap between the 1st and 2nd divisions wasn't as great, and players with 1st Division clubs were more likely to drop down a division. Now they sit in the stiffs and roll in their wages. Not worthy of you, and disrespectful to Doncaster Rovers, a team who I class very much like us at the moment. Who of our past managers has had to face financial constraints in the Championship? I don't agree that you can compare the Championship with the Second Division as was. Money is now the thing which rules in the Championship, much as it does in the Premiership.
Not really what he was getting at. He's obviously telling the players to get the ball in the box and they arnt doing it, and he cant inderstand why. He wants players to be braver and stop taking the safe option of a side ways pass
Its all about Context Conan. Less likable than Davey is your opinion and obviously not shared otherwise i think you would be less baffled. Also statistics that your reffering to, are they return on investment stats, point per pound spend in transfer market because depending on whoevers position is being argued they would suit that argument. As several managers have quoted recently, do managers suddenly become bad managers. The whole issue involves more than whether the manager is doing a good job or not. Who would replace him, bearing in mind he is doing exactly what his remit was, to keep us up without any money to spend. The league has changed in reference to the past statistics, there wasnt 6-7 clubs with premiership budgets in the past. Also if we ever expect to succeed now in the championship we need more than just a new manager. Starting with greater investment from the owners (whoever they may be), local business community and fan support. 7-8000 home fans every week just aint enough. So am i baffled by the continued support? Not really, i think our entire predicament is quite obvious.
