Paddy Greenwood He was initially signed as a midfielder, but then reverted to centre half. Paddy took over as captain when Eric Winstanley left for Chesterfield. He became Brian Clough's first signing for Nottingham Forest. Unfortunately, he picked up a serious injury after about a dozen appearances which ended his career.
Although we were in the Fourth Division When Paddy played for us, he was certainly a cut above that level. As proved when he signed for Forest, then in Division 2. He used to do marauding runs from midfield, but this was curtailed when he was moved to centre half. He was a calming influence over the bright, young players we had at that time (Butler, Doyle, Millar), He took no prisoners in the tackle, but once he won the ball he could use it properly. <img src ="http://www.nasljerseys.com/images/Minutemen/Minutemen%2076%20Head%20Patrick%20Greenwood.jpg">
Re: Although we were in the Fourth Division I can remember him. He was playing at centre half with Ray Petit or John Manning when I started watching the Reds. God this makes me feel an old git!! He must be pushing 70 now?
Re: Although we were in the Fourth Division He's 66 and us 66 year olds dont like the phrase "pushing 70" cos it meks us sound owd.
