price is a far better fighter than Pikey Fury, hes an average heavyweight, this Johnson is ***** can take a punch thats it. If david haye were in there now Fury would catch him at all
Agree that Price is a better fighter, looks like he has real world class potential. But Fury is improving, he will have world title shots I am sure, with the rubbish in the heavyweight division there will be some belts available when the Klits pack in.
Watched the fight tonight in the common club, the general concencus was that Fury was embarrasing, his opponent didn't seem to want to fight, but instead of walking foreward and demolishing him, Fury wanted to stand off him, protect his chin from yards away ( what does that say ) and do a few fancy moves without any end product. David Price would have seen both of them off within two rounds.
Don't agree with that at all to be fair. Fury has been mullered in the past for being gung ho and easy to hit. He went into the fight tonight with an obvious game plan to box long, stay out of reach and out of trouble. At the end of the fight he'd barely felt leather on his face, and the scorecards confirmed he'd not really lost a round other than the point deduction. His opponent might have been a half has been half never was. But he was still a class apart from anything fury had faced before and went twelve with klitsch senior. And he essentially shut him out, never looked like doing anything but win. Why would he open up and risk getting knocked out - the only way he could lose - when he was winning so easily? To make channel 5 viewers happier? Joe calzaghe was never as big a star as Ricky hatton, at least not for a long time, as he was accused of not being box office enough. He made a lot of world title defences on the undercard of other so called top billers. One retired unbeaten after beating everyone out there. The other didn't. I loved watching hatton but I know who's record I'd prefer and who I'd rather have bet on in a title fight against a genuinely class opponent. Fury's fight tonight wasn't pretty but I'd liken it to Barnsley having a back four who defend well and hoof it long, and the team winning games from an odd goal from a long ball and keeping clean sheets. Unattractive but effective football. I'd give my left knacker for that. Well, hypothetically speaking. I do agree that price has the edge but he wouldn't see him off in two, it'd be a very close fight, price winning due to having a purer technique if nothing else.
I would be amazed if fury lasted more than 3-4 rounds with price. He looked in better shape physically tonight but he's too slow. Fury will avoid fighting price for as long as possible and try to get a world title shot first.
I'm sorry pal, but Fury gung ho, no way, not in the fights I've seen, Joe Bugner mk 2, without the aggression, the guy he fought tonight just went through the motions, for what I don't know, Johnson showed no aggression or will to win the fight, the fight could have gone another 12 rounds and Fury wouldn't have put the guy down, after each round he just ambled back to his corner, never sat down, ambled to the centre of the ring at the start of each round and did enough not to get hurt, while Fury bobbed and weaved and huffed and puffed for 12 rounds and achieved ziltch. All Fury is after is a money making fight against Klitchko and then out, he's a con man. If he was serious about being a top boxer his next fight would be David Price. I wil not hold my breath.
I'll give you that, I can see fury dodging price at all costs to be fair. I think fury has the ability bit he doesn't appear to have a fighters heart. Still think he was clever to not get involved last night though.
I know exactly which record I'd prefer. Ricky Hatton's record. I loved Calzaghe, but deciding to only leave your backyard and fight the likes of Hopkins and Jones when they're past their prime risks him being an all time great. Ricky continued to try and test himself against the best, even if he did come up short, whilst Joe never really pushed himself globally until his last four fights.
