I'm a big fan of Bobbys not only as a footballer but as a man and the way he conducts his life.I think because of our poor form fans tend to invent things that just isn't there.Bobby has been involved in 14 games so far either playing or on the bench. He at times has praised K.Hill as a manager and heaped massive approval of his protege Stones. Not forgetting he missed 3 games through getting banned. His overall involvement isn't as bad as made out.

My issue is that since he last played Hill has said that Bobby has no future as a defender and will only play in midfield from now on. Considering the midfielders in the squad this pretty much spells the end of Bobby as a player - the fact he isn't even making the squad seem to support this.
If our defence was water tight and vastly experienced at this level I would see more sense in what Hill is saying but the fact that we are currently the worst team in the world suggests Hill has another agenda besides from football.

Its about lack of consistency from the manager when it comes to dropping or not dropping players.

A lot made Wiseman out to be worse than he was because he became untouchable up to the point when Hill needed the fans on side then he pandered to them.

He's been on the bench because Keith Hill has had no choice.

Bobby hassell has started just 3 league games out of 20. that is a terrible amount of times considering the fact that he is an experienced defender and we have conceded 32 goals.

I personally think a switch to 3 at the back with bobby in the centre may be a way to steady the ship for now. I think the issue is that if you play a passing game with defenders high up the pitch you can't have a 30+ centre back in there as the through ball will kill them. There is evidence to suggest that this has been the case this season.
I love Bobby & hope he will be retained this season & plays a part, but can see why he hasn't been first choice too.

Can't recall last team to play 3 centre halves though.

Didn't Mel Machin once end a match with five on the field at the same time?

We used to use Bobby just in front of the back four, he played well there. His match before being sent off was a blinder from same position. Lets him cover for one of defenders going out to cover roaming wing full backs. Hill has nothing to lose, give him a chance, because this lot will lose or concede in 10 minutes.

Middlesbrough away 02 May 1990. Saville up front and 9 defenders. Won 1-0. Confirmed our division 1 status. John Dennis comes on the field after the game like a conquering hero. Great night.

And didn't one of the centre halves score the winning goal? Mark Smith if my memory serves me.

I could be wrong (I usually am) but I thought it was Carl Tiler.

I would hardly call Lowndes, Agrew, Banks and Dobbin defenders.

I think that Carl Tiler scored the winner in the infamous home game the season after when we invaded the field and play-off ticket details were announced!
