The radio stations website havent even changed their headline. They are still advertising it as a MUST SEE! I know they were trying to be funny but surely they should resign from their positions after this.

Bloke only just done something to hide all his tweets but I'd already said something:

@BFCDrinkers: “@MContheradio: It's almost show time!! The latest on the #RoyalPrank is coming up on the @Hot30Countdown!!” Shame on you

Before folk point out. I know his tweet was sent 8 hours ago not after this news broke

    Thats really sad

We have no real idea of the circumstances but if the reason she killed herself was due to feeling responsible for falling for a hoax call that is just a tragic response to an innocent mistake. (Its also tragic if there were other reasons but this particular reason is very unfortunate)

I am not going to have a go at the Aussie DJ's as they were only having a bit of fun - lots of DJ's have pulled similar tricks in the past often with more sinister intentions .

All she did was field a call in the middle of the night whilst dobtless doing other things as well - it even sounds like no one at the hospital nor the Royal family were taking action against her either. Lots of people make much more serious mistakes and carry on without a second thought

The presenters have now deleted their twitter accounts, must have been woke up in the middle of the night. Thats one hell of a wake up call.

Would be a happy end to a sad story, but I doubt this is a prank.

I suspect the finger might end up being pointed at the hospital management. I reckon the nurse would have been given a real roasting for falling for the prank.

    Mother of two. Truly awful.

As someone who deals with confidential information this is most certainly a management issue, providing she hadn't done what she was told not to.

The line is simple, "The Royal Family have their own private line through to us in order to speak about the condition of the Duchess. You should ignore any calls claiming to be from the Royal household and not give out ANY information." They would have a line to a senior consultant on a private number and staff should be made aware that it was the only way the Royal household would attempt to contact the hospital.

Either way she obviously felt extremely embarrassed and ashamed at having put the call through to the department once the story made massive headlines.

The buck should always stop with management, it's what they are paid for. Id be interested to hear what the hospital staff were ALL told about what to do regarding people trying to find out information.

I'd have hoped the management would have been giving her support, as she seemingly hadn't been given any guidelines on handling phone calls.

As for those two Aussie tw@ts who thought they were so smart with their deception, I'd have them sacked.

BBC report the receptionist was absent from her desk so she took the call and sent it through to the relevant department.

also we don't know what the pressures on her would be from management and or security, cos there not backwards at coming forwards to lay the blame downwards.
i just think it's a tragic case of which there are unforseen circumstances. the dj's were just doing a prank hundreds like it are performed daily all over the free world, i'm sure if they'd known the results of their actions they wouldn't have done it and no way should they be held totally responsible for this tragic event and shouldn't be subjected to severe critism epecially from idiots that know nothing about the case only what they heard on't telly/radio. no doubt the dj's be feeling very down at this moment. my thoughts are with the family of the nurse and her small children.R.I.P

Yes, it was mainly the woman imitating the Queen (badly) and you hear the bloke chip in in the background pretending to be Philip.

And of course the Queen and Philip would be making a call at 5.30 in the morning, not. Pretty amateurish all round. It certainly seems like the staff were not trained properly to deal with this situation and the nurse was caught off-guard. Tragic.

I think it's extremely harsh to blame the two Australian DJs for what has happened... Apparently they've been suspended from their jobs now as well, which just doesn't sound right to me. According to the BBC article, the prank call was "pre-recorded before it was assessed by lawyers and broadcast on 2Day FM", so surely those who gave the permission to broadcast it should be more responsible?

Even then, it was still just an innocent prank call, and surely no one could expect that it could end in a tragedy like this. R.I.P. Mrs Saldanha.

Why do people always seek someone to blame? Perhaps no one is to blame. Very sad when someone takes their life. I really think there will be more to this than has been reported and hopefully it remains unreported.

Not really a fair comparison as most pranks don't involve tricking someone into giving details of the medical condition of a member of the Royal Family and having the resulting jape played out across the media for all to see and hear. For the nurses involved it was not only very embarrassing personally and professionally, but could also have cost them their job and career under NMC regulations.
