I hated every minute of it. Theres something about playing in the second tier that fills me as a supporter of BFC with a sense of pride. Pride for being the longest standing club in this league, and i always tell friends from other clubs this fact. I strongly believe that throughout our history as a club that this is our natural level. I know we havent got a cart load of cash and have one of the smallest budgets in this league but apart from the seasons following our exit from the prem, this has always been the case.
I don't buy into this punching above our weight ballax season on season. It seems some barnsley fans have bought into this media drivel and think Kieth Hill is the best we can hope for. Absolute crap! this boy will take us down and he needs removing before we go down again. Only this time we will not come back up for many, many years!!
So Patrick, it's time to show your hand. Pull yer finger out and either sell up quickly or change the management and lets have a chance of saving our historical place in the football pecking order.

we need to go down so we can re group and start winning because winning football is the only thing that will get the fans back no matter what league we're in people only want to watch a winning team and we'll never be good enough to win and a regular basis in the league we're in now

But will we start winning? a losing mentality carrys forward just as a winning mentality does to teams who are promoted. If we stay with Kieth and drop and still persevere we could well drop again after we lose all our best players. Hills achievements were in lge 2 remember, not lge 1.

He took them to 9th place in Division 1 in their first season. Highest finish since 1969 season.

So just above mid-table then? what did i put about promoted sides having a winning mentality? and he still didn't get them in the play-offs!

*sigh* He took over managing them, got them into the play-offs in Division 3 and then the next season promoted into Division 2 automatically for the first time in 30 odd years. He then took them to 9th place in Division 2 in their first season.

So your saying that's what we've to get used to then? Ale house league footy and struggling to get 6000 in Oakwell every week? Sounds a reight Laff that. My point being hill is well out of his managerial depth with us and I'm not overly keen on sinking till we find his depth tbh!

I quite enjoyed it. Remember getting my end away when we beat Luton away on Good Friday.

His record here is fantastic he's narrowly avoided relegation and by the looks of it this year we'll be down by march but its ok cos we need continuity and he's doing a good job if you look at the bigger picture. Crowds are getting lower and lower like our league position and its about time hill did the honourable thing and walked. It's been almost a year of absolute dross and its not getting any better, how long does he want to turn it around? In any other job performing as badly as he has he'd have been shown the door so why should we just accept it? Because were a small club apparently punching above our weight? We might as well pack in now if that's the case. Isn't football about dreaming of promotions and decent cup runs? We're negative as a club and negative as fans and until that changes were in free fall. Going down will do us no good 6 million shortfall and less money to spend on worse players than we've already got.

You made the point he did all his work in Division Two. I pointed out that he actually got Rochdale to 9th in Division 1. You then said,

No, im not saying that - you are.

Completely agree Selby, there is a real negativity running through the club and this is spreading apathy amongst the fans. I can't believe that anybody, regardless of what they say, are actually looking forwards to league one in any way. If they are they need professional help.

League one is bad. Knowing you long way away from bigger matches, money, and small chance one good season and in promised land. Plus no tele coverage. A bloke on a mobile on soccer Saturday reporting, nothing. -£4m too

    It were ******* crap

Half a season under Gudjon apart, until the promotion year and then we won games, played football and I spent every other Saturday half pissed zipping up and down the major road network watching us win away (imagine that) and shagging a different lass nearly every other weekend.

Life has got considerably sh1tter since then.
