Surprised Farrah wasn't placed in the top three. What was that with Lennox Lewis presenting Andy Murray with a trophy. Was the trophy in the U.S. already in case Murray was in the top three? Doubt if any Paralympian will ever win a major award if competing directly against an Olympian.
What Mo did was tremendous. I just think Murray won more votes from being born and raised in Britain to two British parents. Also Mo while winning double gold was wonderful was nothing near breaking either world record. If he'd even come close to breaking one of them he'd have got more votes. I'm no Murray fan but Wimbledon final, number 3 in the world, Olympic gold and a grand slam beats Mo.

Not sure how being 3rd best at summat (and comfortably behind the top 2) is better than being the best in the world at 2 things.
Olympic athletes have to peak once every four years for a gold medal. A tennis player like Andy Murray has big tournaments all year round with four grand slams, O2 World Series, Olympics and many Masters events.
And in those 4 years Murray gets 16 chances to win a Slam. Four years Farah spends training towards a distant goal, knowing that when the time comes he only gets one crack at it, and there won't be another chance for another four years. Murray has had 20+ decent chances to win a Slam. Even being comfortably 3rd best he was statistically very likely to win one eventually. Farah had one chance to be a hero on home soil and spent 4 long years training with unbelievable commitment to make sure he did it. No contest in my opinion.
Also the team prize should not have gone to team GB. This award officially goes to the best team of the year from ONE sport, not dozens. The BBC broke its own rules by letting this happen, it should have gone to the Ryder Cup team.
