They are saying that there game is the 2nd biggest televised sporting event in British history with over 28 million watching, when they played Chelsea in 1970.

i am not saying that there was over 28 million but they say it still is.

but also they are saying its the 6th most viewed broadcast in British history, which i find hard to believe

    diana funeral
    olympics
    etc

    i need some facts

The 1970 Fa Cup final? It was one of the greatest cup finals of all time Jaf - there's a very good chance that it could well be up there amongst the highest viewed sporting events in British History.

You have to remember mate, Leeds United used to be a big side back in the olden days...

They used to be massive Leeds. Massive.

Playing against bobbins like Barnsley and Hull is an insult to them.

It was the replay, not the original cup final.

ye mate, not arguing that it was one of the best (not sure like never seen it), but just the fact that millions of more people have tvs now, there is more cameras so for the likes of dianas funeral/royal wedding etc which was on every channel there must have been more watching it. also with the population growing.

i just want to prove em wrong more than owt cos am sick of hearing em going on abart it

The first game was a bit tasty with two good but dirty sides that didn`t disappoint, the replay was watched by more because of the anticipation of what was to come, kicking the **** out of each other it turned out to be a cracking game entertainment wise. Not sure if it weren`t first ever Cup Final Replay???

Also, that was way back when there were only 3 or 4 TV channels and the match would be televised on two of them. University Challenge on BBC2 or World at War on Channel 4.There was no Internet, X-box, Play Station etc. There'd be f*ck all else to do on that evening - The 2012 Olympics were only on BBC and you've all these other options. I'd suggest that would be a gretater achivement given the year.
