Greetings. O's fan here, checking on the progress of our ex-captain.
I see he has been getting a lot of matches for you recently, is this based on his form, or injuries to first choice players?
He was outstanding for us, really tenacious and never gave less than 100% - an inspirational captain. How's he coping at Championship level?

All the best, hope you stay up and Daws has a long and successful career with you.

    HEs doing well for Barnsley.

Hes exactly what you say he was for you. really tenacious and never gave less than 100%.

Not sure how him and Perkins get around the pitch they do in the 80th min or later.

Plenty of effort. Can't fault him on that front. He has his moments with the ball too. But I don't think it's any surprise that a team in which Stephen Dawson is an integral part is down the bottom end of the table. I think he'd be a star performer in most teams in league 1, but other than us I don't think he'd get in many Championship sides.

I'm a big fan of Dawson, was a great signing and improves every week in my opinion.

Very gritty, no nonsense, all action midfielder, the sort of qualities which are transferrable in any division.

He's in and out of the team as Keith Hill seems to do a lot of chopping and changing, but is a similar sort of player to David Perkins, who when fit, should probably be the first name on the team sheet.

Some of his early performances were likened to club legend Neil Redfearn on here, and is probably the sort of player who should be captain when he plays.

Thanks for the support, all the best to you too, hope your season is much better than ours.

I really like him and when he plays well he really shines in our midfield. He likes to put a tackle in and seems to have so much energy we call him '3 lungs'. You'll possibly get to see him again next season when we're in league one.

yeah I like him - good tackler, always gives 100%. But he's not really the quality championship footballer we really need, especially when we still have Perkins (who I think just shades him). But seeing as tho Perkins has been injured quite a bit, Dawson's been getting plenty of games and rightly so

Gives 100%, gets around the pitch and is good at tackling. For a guy who sees so much of the ball he should score more often than he does though.

Probably in the top 3 performers for us this season. But then that's not saying much.

Cheers all, glad he's doing well.
I reckon you'll be ok this season (based on nothing inparticular other than the high-lights I've seen which have seemed to be tightly fought and hard fought.) Your players seem to still be playing for Keith Hill. (shoot me down in flames if I'm off the mark)
I'm glad you didn't poach Russ Slade off us 18 months ago, don't know how he'd do at your level, but we're having a pretty good season so far and look like we could go on another cup run or with a favourable wind, sneak into the playoffs.

Hasn't flown in at anyone 2 footed for a while

    I'm going off him.

Grafter. Think we'll need his character in the coming months.

Jury's still out for me as to whether he's good enough for the Championship but, as others have said, you can't fault his work rate and effort - the opposing team know they've been in a game especially when Perkins is playing as well.

We haven't scored nearly enough goals this season and I'd partly put that down to our midfield having far better defensive attributes than attacking - can't remember too many times that Dawson has made a good pass and he should probably get more goals than he does.

Still, he'll be fine for us in League One next season :frown:

Lots of heart and effort, can't be faulted for that. Good in the tackle but unlikely to set the league alight.

Like Neil redfearn but without the shooting ability, but then not many have redders shooting ability.

He's certainly a charger like Redders - does a lot work, good in the tackle, runs with the ball. not got anything like Redders instinct for a goal though.

Nut job. Grafter, needs a couple of proper laikers next to him so he can kick kids up in air and run abart.

Player of the Year - nailed on.

If you could add some goals to his game (he does look like he has the ability to get forward and score) you'd have a very good player at this level. He's got plenty of other qualities you want in that position and maybe he'd have more goal scoring success if he didn't run quite so hard(!) and arrived a late in the box.
