What i was getting at is if we were in their position in the prem there would be 20 thou in most weeks, far better support than Wigan and they seem to be doing ok regardless so there is definately untapped potential if we were successful, the one season we had proved this!

Easily? Im talking home support. But if you're going on away support too, how many yorks side have been in the prem lately, it's not like we'll have a load of derby games. Wigan have had around them Blackburn, Bolton, Man City, Man Utd, Blackpool. Ill guess we'll never find out though in our lifetime.

    Wigan average just under 19,000.

and how many seasons they had now in the top flight? they didnt get that in the first couple, more like 13-14k. Christ, if we had stayed up the same length of time as them we'd have a 30k all seater now with at least 25k every week.

Yes they did, they averaged 20,610 in their first season and in only one since season have they averaged less than 18,000. 16,500 a couple of seasons ago.

Well it holds 25k and 5k are for away supporters so go figure. That kinda means around 15 k home fans most weeks by my reckoning as they average 18k. So if you look at it like that, ie properly, we would attract a larger fan base i reckon after 6 seasons in the top flight.

Like you say that's what you reckon, I reckon many of the skint Barnsley public who won't pay £25/£28 for a championship clash won't pay even higher prices every week, they would against the top four, but not in today's world would they pay it week in week out, there isn't the same money knocking about that was there in 1997. We couldn't sell 15,000 against Man U a couple of seasons ago, albeit for a capital one game. It's difficult trying to compare our 97 crowds to wigans crowds during a recession and saying we'd easily beat em.

I'd love the opportunity to judge it but we'll be comparing league 1 crowds soon.

Half price season tickets for those who've never had one. And a free bag of crack.
