Lots of posts on here last week saying bad run began when hardworking Dagnall was dropped... A fair point and one I had not considered. He and Hassell recalled and the reds win away. Hill often quotes fans comments and past few weeks changes have been in line with majority of posts ere...
He has said that his mates read this, and other forums, and they report back to him although I'm not sure how much he really cares what we think.
I've never found this board to be a fair representation of supporters views. You hear a wide range of opinions, but the negative element shout louder and more often, but that is true of many social and political arenas. I was out with 8 or 9 fans on Saturday, everyone had plenty to say about the current state of the club - but not one Hill basher among them. And these are lads who do 40 games a season.
It's a difficult one this week. Do you drop one of the three 'defensive' midfielders for perhaps Buszacky or Mellis? Out of the three you'd probably drop Hassell. He could then play at CB but is he tall enough to cope with Zigic? McNulty's tall enough but he's in a bad run of form, Collins and Edwards haven't played a championship game for ages, and will Stones get found out without Hassell protecting him? Do Davies and RNL come back in if fit at the expense of Dagnall? I'd probably go for: Steele Wiseman Stones McNulty Golbourne Hassell O'Brien Dawson Perkins Tudgay Davies Height and protection for the back four, plenty of legs in midfield and enough quality up front.
I would normally say that your team has no width, it's not the way to get a win at home. But its not normal circumstances we find ourselves in. And with our lack of viable options on the wing atm we may not have any choice.
I did think that too, but I'd like Hassell to play to help out the centre halfs and mop up any flick ons/downs. I also don't think you can drop Dawson or Perkins. Hopefully O'Brien will whip in a few crosses and Dawson and Perkins have fleeted with playing out wide before. Besides, playing no wingers worked well against Birmingham last time.
Well when you have some on the one side making him out to be some kind of diety and then others opposing that view and likening him to a pub team manager after only a coupla months into the job then things were never going to get on swimmingly were they. Thinking back to early last season more were positive than negative so I would say its all down to results, if we go on a 10 game run picking up plenty of 3 pointers then the tide will turn once more.
