Re: It's this kind of thinking that is dragging the club backwards Correct. We've been in administraton once in 125 years of operation and now anything above that is benchmarked as success. Is it really too much to ask for the club to reduce it's costs whilst still growing it's commercial and customer engagement activity? The two are not mutually exclusive. There is no clear strategy or vision that I can see the club is working towards. Where are the ideas and innovation from Rowing and Taylor? We've *****ed a **** load of money on **** players this year that could have funded the appointment of a commercial/marketing manager to help generate and implement some fresh thinking. ******* hell, I'd give up some of my spare time for free to attend focus groups and help provide some constructive input and ideas generation if Don is too busy. I'll even help him to find some interns to help implementation too.
Who is asking him to spend more money? Just make the most of what we have and intact increase it instead of treading water
Re: It's this kind of thinking that is dragging the club backwards Which is why I voted for you last night. If only because I know you will answer my email when I offer my services to the club for free!* *I sent an email last year offering to paint BFC murals on the drab East stand concourse amongst other things re 125 and 1912. Still waiting Don!
Seeing as there are two threads on exactly the same subject I thought I'd just paste my response in here...
Re: It's this kind of thinking that is dragging the club backwards And this is the norm. A talented artist offering services for free to help benefit the club and create a sense of occasion and heritage within the stadium and you don't even get a response. Yet some people think Rowing is doing fine because he has cut costs within the club. It's dreadful.
Re: It's this kind of thinking that is dragging the club backwards I don't know, it is like no-one wants to take ownership or responsibility for anything. Like dear old Supertyke's TV gripe. What does it take? I am used to red tape and procedures, but fcking hell? To ignore someone who is essentially a customer? To be honest, I'm well out of it. Could you imagine the bollacks it would take to get something like that off the ground? I didn't even consider proposing the historic Oakwell print to the club. What does that say about them? I heard Don saw the print and realised what they had missed out on. He wanted one for the boardroom, I emailed again saying okay and guess what, no reply. Yet he expects me to take the time to work out his ridiculous ticketing policies? I give up!
I don't think some people are actually understanding this point. Keeps being made over and over but we still have loads on dons back....
But you would still acknowledge the offer, wouldn't you? It's just good manners. I think it is just that someone doesn't want to create a greater workload for themselves, as simple as that. I like to think I'm quite modest about what I do, but I'm quite certain my product is of a consistently higher quality than the one I'm expected to buy into.
Re: It's this kind of thinking that is dragging the club backwards Without wishing to sound dramatic, but it disgusts me. The easiest and cheapest thing for a company to do is provide high standards of customer service and communication. It's unforgiveable that two emails from a fan offering services to help the club have been ignored. Seriously, how can anyone defend that abysmal level of engagement. It's not even amateurish, it's worse than that.
Even if the club or Rowing didn't have time to go in to it in detail at the time, you should have received a response to say that and thank you for your offer. It's not even customer service, it's just basic human decency. I remember when I was a geeky kid, bothering Michael Spinks with letter after letter asking random questions about the club and sending in clippings of John Deehan et al from old fotball annuals. I received a hand written response to every letter that I ever sent to the club back then and my clippings were included in the Oakwell Review with an acknowledgement. Rowing hasn't got a clue.
Are you suggesting that EVERY decision relating to the day to day running of the club is referred up to Cryne despite the fact he's too ill to even make a statement relating to the club?
I completely believe and expect that Cryne made the decision relating to Hill today. No surprise there. However, I don't believe for one minute that he hasn't empowered Rowing with responsibility for day to day affairs and commercial activity. However, I do feel that the structure within the club is all wrong and that buck stops with Cryne.
I have that issue at work having to refer everything off all the time even though it is company beneficial. I just wait til they've all ****ed off home and do it. See there are ways around things.
As stated in a post earlier, its been 7 years. The structure isn't likely to change after all this time
