I always used to play As Barnsley at Subbuteo and we always won. Does that count? I've never played computer games. A modern day Neanderthal, that's me.
Re: I always used to play You're not missing anything mate. Unless you like devising bizarre tactics and formations and then pretending that they'd translate to real life. Like my infamous 1-2-1-1-1-2-1-1 formation, which completely baffled Barcelona. And my team. And me.
Oh, I remember playing against Barcelona However, Cruyff & Neeskens et al couldn't cope with the likes of Bobby Doyle, Mick Butler, Ally Millar and Mick Pickering. Subbuteo was so realistic.
Re: Oh, I remember playing against Barcelona While you were managing Barnsley, I was toiling away at Blacker Hill Rovers with Speedie as my main striker. I also had a spell at Pilley Argylle but fell out with the supporters when I criticised the motorway footbridge for being a bit noisy.
Re: Oh, I remember playing against Barcelona Apart from the fact that the ball was bigger than the players, I can't actually think of any major differences between Subbuteo and the real thing.
Was that in two different games, or was it against a joint St Etienne and Coventry team, assembled due to neither team being able to field a full side as too many of their players had been lost or trodden on?
My team had to Put up with our Collie dog walking all over them at times. That didn't occur too many times at Oakwell!
Re: My team had to Got visions of the large cat walking over little London at he start of The Goodies.
