Anyone buy into this theory that relegation to league 1 would do us good?

I mean we would be dead certs for automatic promotion next season and in no way would we sucked into the abyss of lower league football and the threat of another relegation or the club going under.

So let's just relax then.Nothing to see here.

Absolutely no chance, we're far from out of it this season, slight improvement required in the side, if we manage to stay up this year I don't think we'd be in any danger next season.

No, I don't think it'd be a disaster either. Probably our natural level now.

I honestly think if same one comes in and plays a settled team with our best players in their correct positions and a bit of width - maybe give silva a game we could stop up.

if we go down it would all depend on who we keep and who we bring in.

But in a strange way if we do go down we could be better off, if we start doing well and winning games then i'm sure with cheaper tickets prices and a winning team the fans will come back and generate more cash.

Norwich were in areal mess when they went down

Jeez, talk about defeatist. Keith Hill has done a proper number on you, he really has.

and if we dont start winning games?
our last few better players leave?
we sign more lesser quality players?
    gates dwindle again?

    Then what?

Like i said promotion is not a gimme. The likes of Southampton Norwich Swansea and Leeds had some backing and a decent fan base.Oh and better players.

It's only January (well, almost), I'm not accepting defeat yet!
If we stay up then it will be by the skin of our teeth but isn't that the way we do it?

Hill never conceded relegation. The ones throwing the towel in would happily throw the manager, team, board, pies and TVs straight out with it. And then stand around and ask where has the fcking club gone?

It's nothing new, football is the same the world over. This new generation though has sharp teeth - and skysports and the internet. We have learned fck all and are paying for it with our club.

This attitude was prevalent long before Keith Hill arrived. Before Danny Wilson arrived even.

Not in the slightest defeatist mate but all things considered (attendance, budget, set up) it is.

No way, I can't even contemplate league one, the thought of it turns me cold. Those who are happy to sink to that level are part of the reason why our board have been happy to just tread water for so long.

We wouldn't be dead cents for promotion though.

If we go down it'll be 2-3 seasons before we are challenging to go back up.

On the plus side it means some of the dead wood might come to the fore.

On the contrary I think what we have learned that not scoring goals not learning to defend and being flat bottom of the league is hardly the sign of the right manager for us.Not withstanding one who at regular intervals tried to isolate/ decimate the fanbase with stupid comments Where did this Keith Hill is the messiah come from anyway? other than what he said anyway, we were warned by the Rochdale fans that he would be far from universally popular.
I totally agree that constantly changing mangers is not good for anyone but if anything its the folk that keep picking the wrong man (waaaaay too many times now) that want their arse kicking, but Keef just did not learn and looked lost and stunned on Saturday so for although I feel sorry for anybody losing their job me he had to go because thats the nature of the business he's in.
But as for league 1 being possibly our natural level now, sorry but IMHO thats totall defeatist ******** but I can't be arsed typing the reasons why

It would be very bad for us!
The players we have that are championship standard would be sold and we would be left with a squad of 3rd division players,
Revenue would drop substantially - much less sky money only 5000 fans and ticket prices would have to drop as well.
I doubt we would bounce back up either
look at what happened last time we were relegated - we were within minutes of relegation to the 4th division and went out of business
Whilst I dont think we will be in real danger of Administration again I think a relegation battle is more likely than a promotion challenge.

Even if we manage to bounce back up where does the money come from to rebuild a championship side - unless we get some significant backing we will be right back where we are today but with even fewer Championship standard players. No coincidene that Wednesday and Peterbourough are struggling this time

    It would be disastrous.

The last time we went down was different in the sense that we'd not long since been through one of the most turbulent and difficult periods in the club's history and despite being in League 1, it felt as though it was a genuine period of rebuilding and reinvention. This time, the club and the fanbase are on a genuine negative curve and relegation would only serve to justify the actions of the stay away fans.

And then what next? Over the past 2 years we've been brainwashed in to thinking that we have little right to operate at Championship level due to the dwindling gates and lack of finance. If we go down to League 1 and gates dwindle further and our financial situation grows worse due to massively reduced revenue, will we then be told our rightful place is League 2???!!!

How on earth can the club sell itself ahead of a campaign in League 1 when the previous season it has all but openly admitted that it is unabe to compte in the Championship. Effectively the message is that promotion is not the goal as promotion is futile.

There is little comparison between the likes of Southampton, Norwich and Leeds being relegated to League 1 and our potential situation. They all had a much larger fanbase due to their recent top flight history and were able to attract investment to drive their reinvention as a result of their gates and strong commercial activity.

    Absolutely not.
Relegation in the next couple of years will be disastrous imo.
We may get promotion but it condemn us to the office of yo yo club.
