I don't see why the Manager can't be democratically elected by the fans....?

Draw up a short list, then season ticket holders and those with three consecutive ticket stubs cast their vote. What's wrong with that? Then if after 6 months, their win ratio dips below 30% we vote again to sack them or not.

Power to the people!!! And Redstar.... :)

    Because its a stupid idea?

leaving aside the fact that the fans cant negotiate the package and make money availlable we woiuld all be voting for people we cant have - Di Matteo or Pep for example

Even if Billy Davies and Owen Coyle have applied and we vote for them what happens then when they say I need a £5million transfer kitty

And even after that be honest how many of us would have voted for Spackman or even Hill - I'd have voted for them both - not sure I would have voted for Wilson or Ritchie so I know even less than the Don about picking managers

Great idea. While we're at it, let's have a weekly online referendum to decide the starting XI and formation. I will be proud to see the super reds as technological pioneers of football democracy. Then they can sort the distorted PA system out.

It should be the board members that vote, the only problem is we might as well not have a board...

    Feliz Año Nuevo señor Mario
Had a few last night, my 2am post about Keith Hill can attest to that! I think I had Dyson in tears, poor lad. Luckily it's tumbled to page 2!

I read a political essay about Russia which said that a democracy will only deliver a workable government if all poor people OR all stupid people are prevented from voting. Obviously the poor and the stupid cannot be denied a vote. And judging by my trips to Oakwell over the last 25 years, the stupid are definitely not a minority group, so who would we actually end up with as manager? My money would be on Neil Redfearn, Cheri Lunghi, Nick Griffin or Arthur Scargill.

I agree with this one, fans earn a vote over time with season ticket/match day ticket/club shop purchases/payment into a membership scheme or whever criteria can be set, and then vote on a board member who keeps his position for 2 years and then there's a vote for either them again or someone else, this board member then makes sure the points of teh fans get heard.
