There doesn't exactly look to be much potential there to attract a potential buyer does there? Barely 3500 home fans in the ground for a 3rd Rd FA Cup tie when it's £15 a ticket.
An absolute embarrassment. The people of Barnsley just cannot expect to have a Championship football club with such poor backing and so it's no good bleating if/when we get relegated.
I'm just glad the few who could be bothered to turn up were rewarded with a rare win.
Very pleased indeed for young Danny Rose, I hope it's the first of many.
If we get Man U or Arsenal away there'll no doubt be queues right down to Pontefract Road. Fickle.

We averaged over 13,000 fans at the end of the 2009 season. Why and where do you think all those have gone?

Even the Davey and Robins sides, which both lost their way, had some flair players you'd look forward to watching - i.e. Campbell-Ryce, Hammill, Da Silva, Howard, Colace (at his best), etc, etc.

This lot try hard, but Benny has left us with a League One side in the main. That's why we are now attracting League One crowds.

So it is the fans fault that the football has been so poor this season?
The fans fault that the board of directors and owner have distanced themselves from the common man so much?
The fans fault that the club is going backwards?
The fans fault that the price has been set too high and too complicated for the last 2 seasons?
The fans fault that the reduction today wasn't advertised heavily?
The fans fault that Hills best mate was still in charge today?

Exactly, no it isn't. The fans are customers and are feeling so alienated from the club that they chose to stay at home. After 70 minutes today a few around me were saying they wish they'd stayed at home too.

So what, would you rather it be empty and just the ones who watched today turn up.

Could this be the problem? A rare win? We won 9 games in 2012 and were officially the worst team in the country last year. This game coming after 3 straight defeats, two of those at Oakwell - the Blackburn loss being particularly painful to watch. Also the match was against a team we've played on regular basis for the last 6 - 7 years and we only played them 7 games ago before today so that coupled with it coming just after Xmas aint gonna get the fans flooding into Oakwell. Although I am inclined to agree that none of these things (excuses?) would matter if it had been a home game against Arsenal today but that happens at every club.

Had we been on a good run, looking up the table not down, then more would have turned up. I have been getting home in such a mood after recent games, I thought I would not put myself through it today.

I'd hope that anyone looking to buy the club would look beyond today to judge the potential support. The FA Cup is now notoriously poorly supported and given our frankly appalling home record it is not surprising not many turned up.

That's not to say I'm not disappointed with the turnout but there IS potential for greater support at BFC given the right form and attitude.

Been an active member of this board for years, ex season ticket holder, followed the Reds home and away and was proud to play for the Supporters team as well BUT I have not posted on here in a very long time and I packed in going to the games. In response to the comment above, the people of Barnsley don't expect a Championship football club, only you active supporters do, the people of Barnsley won't bleat if relegated why would they, they are not the supporters. If it is a big name team in the next round there will no doubt be a big crowd, thats not fickle, its people not supporters turning up to see big name players and hoping for a shock result. Just for the record I don't watch any football now, can't even be bothered with watching the football league show or MOTD, football has had it for me I'm sorry to say. Mega bucks owners, over paid players, too much hype and frankly its not entertaining. I still buy my lad a season ticket for Oakwell but he did not even want to go today. Good luck in next round and I hope for all you real supporters the Reds do stay up too.

    DISAGREE

Fans have stayed away cos they are sick of watching sh!te on the field and listening to sh!te off the field.

If you are looking to acquire a business you do not look at one discreet game like today (which admittedly paints a poor picture of BFC and also 3rd round FA Cup in general); you try and look at as much history as possible.

And if you look at BFC's recent history, we have reached Premiership, Play-Offs, FA Cup semi final and have attendances (average) that exceed 13K.....and currently in annual profit.

Where is the embarrassment in this? I feel quite proud actually?
