Keep seeing posts where people say manger wont want relegation on their CV. Don't get that really I dont think taking over a team rock bottom of the championship and not managing to save them will be seen as a blot on anyone's CV. Any manager could turn it into a positive that they were up for the fight and not scared of the challenge of a relegation fight. On the other side of the coin if they did save us then that would have much bigger impact on their CV for future Jobs
Must agree. Are these managers saying that if they have relegation on their CV that they never get another job? Usually releagation has as much to do with Club finances (which generally are nothing to do with Manager) than anything else, and that is what I would be explaining to a prospective Chairman if I had relegation on my CV.
That's very true If they were unable to save us, they could reasonably argue the mess was just too great for them to clear up, despite their best efforts and absolve themselves from any blame.

He took over in the September And had 39 league games out of the initial 46 to avoid relegation. Hardly half a season.
Agree, it's almost a no-lose situation for a prospective manager that comes in with a half-decent record behind them. Keep us up and they are elevated to the new Messiah, take us down and it was all Keefy's fault.
Lots of top managers have a relegation on their CV somewhere Redknapp, Alladyce, McCarthy, Warnock all spring to mind as did Mark Hughes who has just jumped back to the Championship. Also anyone taking the job now knows that even if they fail to keep us up they will get a good shot at getting us back again next season. We would be unlikely to fire them this summer - unless our form gets even worse - which would be tricky to achieve.
Re: He took over in the September Which makes his point even more valid. Even with so many games to save Donny it still didn't damage his reputation. Club chairmen don't tend to look past what a manager is doing right now. And right now Saunders has his team at the top of the league, so he's a good manager, what he did in the past is of little relevance. Same could be said of Terry Butcher. He's had a string of failures with English clubs, but right now he's doing well, so we want him. I don't think relegations damage a manager's reputation much at all unless that is the last thing they did.
I agree But I was simply pointing out that he didn't only have half a season to try and avoid relegation.
Mark Hughes has made a fortune out of getting the sack, still seems to get jobs easy enough though, amazingly
Re: He took over in the September Didnt realise that. SOD seemed to have much longer than 7 games. But I didn't check any facts. I just remembered wrongly that he took over later in the season. Funny that while we were interested in SOD some where saying he as good as relegated donny
