That the club are desperately trying to 'entice' a new man in with the promise of around £3.5 million in transfer funds. The club hope to cash in on Craig Davies (thought to be around £500,000). Scott Wiseman (thought to be around £150,000) and John Stones (thought to be around £2.75m). This is one of the main reasons Sean O'Driscoll turned down the job. He wanted funs to get us out of the gloom, and the club could only offer him assets in which to trade with. The club are now setting the wheels in motion to give the new man a transfer kitty to kickstart the Oakwell revival.
I thought that the sales of Craig Davies and Scott Wiseman were to balance the books? As confirmed by The Don?
If this is true, then I cannot see why SO'D would turn it down as the transfers would have been completed quite quickly and tehrefore funds available immediatley. Anyway, if SO'D didn't want the job then I am sure we will find somebody who has the heart to take on the challenge. Potential £3.5M war chest is tempting for any manager in Championship?
wouldn't be surprised if we were trying to sell stones on the cheap. if this is true we should insert a decent sell on %
I sincerely hope that we would be wanting a bit more for Stones than £2.75m. Do we always have to sell on the cheap.
Wigan have already had a £1.5m offer rebuffed and are expected to come back with a bid of £2m. The club want to hold out for nearer the £3m mark.
Why would we need to balance the books? Keith's compensation, or the money he wasted on the four loan signings?
If i remember correctly when Hill was appointed there was a period when he said he would not be taking the Barnsley job and he was out of the running. If SOD had terms that we couldn't meet then are the club trying a bit of jiggery pokery to bring SOD back to the table ???
initials TJ b any chance? same bloke who said we have sold wiseman for 600k all because i said we have rumours that he has gone for a 6 figure sum lol.
