if we can't agree a deal with Mr Butcher. Really do NOT like sticking our washing out for all to see.
We are at the interview stage only he might say the wrong thing like " I always wanted to manage Burnley"
Exactly. It's all over Radio 5 Live "Bottom of the Championship Barnsley, who were rejected by Sean O'Driscol over the weekend, have been given permission to speak to Terry Butcher." FFS Friday it will be, 'Barnsley who have been rejected by Sean O'Driscol, Terry Butcher, Gary Megson, Abu Hamza, and Syphilis, are now making a bid on the full kit ****er that sits in the Ponty with goalie gloves on...'
Was going to mention this... we'd look ridiculous I guess. And whoever was then approached would clearly be third choice. I cant actually remember any other club recently being knocked back in public twice so hope we dont suffer such a fate. Not convinced on Butcher but we have to get him now.
haha does he still go?! Seriously though, they cant win. They dont name anyone and they are floundering about keeping fans in the dark - name someone and they risk getting egg on their face. He's supposedly going to come down in the next 48 hours, so presumably only had telephone conversation about the position at the moment. Long way to go.
Perhaps we should have used the medium of telepathy to approach managers then no-one need know we communicated with them or better still not bother with the candidates we are interested in. **** me static.
Re: Perhaps we should have used the medium of telepathy to approach managers The comments on here never fail to amaze me.
Aren`t we always looked upon as stupid, crap, relegation favourites, little ol Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarnsley the but of someones joke until we whoop arse some big, star ladened, moneybags club then its all change for a short while everyone likes us.
It's very difficult to keep things quiet in this day and age. I think I'm right in saying it was Inverness that released the information that they had given permission for us to talk to Butcher. What can we do about that? And wasn't it Sean O'Driscoll who released a statement saying he didn't want the Barnsley job? Don Rowing would be churlish not to talk about it once it is in the public domain. And it's not just us. We all knew Wolves had approached Dean Saunders well before he had secured the job. Things get out. There's nothing Don Rowing or Barnsley FC can do about it. It's just part and parcel of the information age.
We had to ask Super Cali for permission to speak to Butcher. That much is common knowledge. How can you keep an approach to another club hidden when they tell the media they have given their permission? After looking at his managerial record I'm not convinced he is the the right man for us. He has to be 2000% better than Hill though.
