Me and the missus get married in July. Now we are looking for a 2 night stay somewhere for sort of a honeymoon thing (in UK, not abroad for a week or 2 etc, we would miss the kids too much) started looking around lake district and stuff, have anyone got any suggestions (sits back and now waits for the joke suggestions)

Took my wife to the lakes for her 30th last year. The room with the bath in the middle was amazing. Good restaurants, spa and pool, beautiful setting. Pricey but definitely special

I can second Borrowdale or anywhere on Derwent Water.

There are a couple of hotels lake side although I haven't stayed there so I can't say how good they are.

Much prefer Keswick to the other towns in the Lakes.

In all serious, just sod off to Whitby for a few days. Always something to do if you decide to go out.

Mrs Finn and I had a belated 50th birthday trip to the Lakes last month. Stayed here http://www.sawreyhouse.com/. Absolutely terrific. Right next door to Hilltop, good walk to ferry across to Bowness, Hawkshead and Ambleside nearby. Toni and her team really looked after us, fantastic room with views across Esthwaite Lake and Grizedale Forest. Food stunning, just that and a healthy stagger to the best boozer I've ever been in - the Cuckoo's Brow.

WHITBY and surrounding coastal villages. The Robin Hood's Bay Hotel is a great shout!
