I think I am now fairly correct in saying that Barnsley Football Club is not only the laughing stock of Yorkshire, but perhaps also of the entire Football league.I regular am a listener to Praise or grumble, but as of now I will give it a total miss. The DeeDahs the Pikeys the Millers must be totally loving this complete and utter ****** that BFC has recently become. We will get relegated this term of that I am certain , and we will struggle also next term to stay in league 1. I am totally gutted at what the people who are currently in charge have allowed us to sink to. This for me is perhaps worse than the Admin era, at least then as a fan I was able to try to help my beloved club. Right now we the fans can only hurt.

We are not a laughing stock. People have always taken the piss, but we are generally regarded as a honest little club trying to hold it's own in the big, ugly fcked up world of football. We are like a friendly local shop surrounded by supermarkets and starb*cks. You should pop your head above those valleys now and again and not get so angry about stuff. :D

LOLOL "but we are generally regarded"

Honestly my sides are aching, may even need a trip to A&E for stitches. Mate we are generally regarded as a backwater 'Hill Billy' team, its that simple. This last few days have cemented that to the football world. I am really now in the belief that we are on the road to the Blue Square...and maybe even beyond.

You're not despised, but you don't half go over the top. Although it must come as a relief to you when your predictions aren't anywhere near as bad as you say they are! :)

The last two efforts sound to me that PC is in full control. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

I think you have got that spot on.....No matter how hard Rowing et al seem to be working to bring a new manager in...it ain't working and i think we are in BIG trouble both on and off the pitch. Let's pray for a change in fortune because the warning signs are there that we could end up spiralling into oblivion. Our well paid players can make a start by putting in a shift and beating Leeds on Saturday...that will give everyone a massive lift.

Crikey you really do have a low opinion of our club.I don't personally think other supporters really think that at all although they wouldn't admit it.
I don't take to heart what fans from other clubs sat at best of times so not gonna start listening to cheap jibes now. Let the board get on with it fek other fans.

It's not Rowing who is killing the club.

    It's the white knight.

Re: LOLOL "but we are generally regarded"

In reality we've been turned down by a man who if he took the job would put at risk his payoff from being unbelievably sacked, and also a man who has led a small unfashionable team to being on the verge of a chance of playing European football. I say credit the board for trying to get them, the statements they've both given show how high they regard the club's dealings with them in trying to entice them. The fact they both had talks show that we must have had some attraction and some chance either might have said yes. The club seem to be doing all this in the right way, identifying the right calibre of manager and trying for them. Whatever our attraction facility and financial stability wise, we are bottom of the league. It's a big ask for anybody to commit to that, let alone in their circumstances. Move on to the next in line on the list. In my eyes that doesn't make us a laughing stock, just a club aiming as high as they can to get the right man. I personally would go for Higgy or Redders - purely because both want it, both have come accross as knowledgeable and articulate coaches and both would bust a gut to succeed back here. I saw Redders at the Lamproom and listening to him I thought he'd make a great manager down here. I've seen and heard Higgy in interviews and at games and had the same thought. Some have been saying they don't want an ex-player, too much of a risk. Then put forward Nick Barmby, who got noticed because of the way he managed Hull - his first job. Who'd have thought Dean Holdsworth would have cut it at Aldershot? His first job and he's done very well. Then look at Di Canio at Swindon. Town Hall steps job for him doing well as a manager, but look at the job he's done.
I know I'm rambling on a bit, but what I'm getting round to saying is maybe it's time to take a calculated risk. There's enough on here who say we're doomed anyway. What could they achieve with the fans behind them, as that would be a given.
Just some thoughts while there's nowt on telly.

I agrre with Fearless Tyke's post but consider this before we go down the Higgy and Redders line. Both were fantastic players for BFC gave their all and put bums on seats through playing good football. I appreciate that given free reign they might play the "proper way" with the ball on the deck but.... from what I have seen from Redders U18's team at Leeds they play kick it as far as possible and chase it football. Higgy the last i heard was coaching the U14's at Middlesborough. It would be a massive step for both of them. Perhaps we need an experienced manager with one of them assisting.

Not the first mention I've seen of Nicky Barmby on here post-Hill. He was doing well at Hull till the foreign owners started chucking their weight around and from what I saw of them in his time there, they played proper football. I'm sure he'd fancy a crack managing under 'local' owners who're not in it for the £££. Dark horse?
