Be there, like, but no spice to it knowing that clueless Flicker will be in charge. Why don't we have an interim manager, like Chelsea?
I can be because it's likely to be our last big derby game for a while at Oakwell so may as well make the most of it. Plus if ever the team needed the fans it's now. No point making excuses to not go, we'll miss the likes of Leeds at home if we're in League One next year. No need for an interim manager, we don't have grand plans for a messiah to come in the summer (a la Chelsea with Pep) so let's just appoint someone now permanently.
My point is that we're in no position to make the most of it. The only player in the squad who has a goal in him is gone, the players know we're so devoid of ambition that no-one decent wants to manage us, and the leftover gaffer we've got should be flogging carpets on Rochdale Market. Bugger the Messiah, let's have Branson, Redfearn or even Barry Murphy to take temporary charge. We've tried to break free of Hill's gravitational force but we're still in his orbit with his mate at the helm. Therefore his evil mission continues.
I'd be there in a second if I could. Still might now pay on day is back, checking train prices. If I can get away with a £100 day out, I'm coming. Who would want to miss Leeds at home?
I agree there's very little to get excited over and it's a shame we're heading into this game in limbo, with a chaotic off-field situation and ever-dwindling onfield quality. But at least it's Leeds and not Ipswich or some dour opponents. At least a derby game is worth getting up for. And Leeds are just as likely to have a mare as we are. It's very winnable. Becchio is their only real goal threat, their defence has as many holes as ours, whilst Brown and Tonge are slower than me! Let's get behind em Saturday, then be more analytical and reflective next week!
Not as excited as I have been in the past for a home game vs. Leeds - probably partly because we've played them quite a few times in the last few years and also the last year or so of dire football has taken it out of me. But still be there Saturday cheering us on to hopefully 3 points!
