BFC only turn a profit due to player sales

So what we going to do if we get relegated and none of our players are worth much?

Because he's played in the Championship most of the season. My question was what happens if we go down, all the current saleable assets have gone and we're left with more league 1 players that no one wants to pay a fee for? I keep hearing we are financially sound but our business plan is based on getting a good fee for a player every season. Admittedly that's part of football for clubs like us, but when your only strategy is that it leaves you in a very dangerous position. I'm worried.

 

And still some think that relegation might be a good thing. It will be a disaster for the club if we go down.

accepting reality however is a wise move

we have always been a selling club - the key is to keep developing good youngsters - we forgot about that for about 10 years after our prem flirtation

 

Other clubs sell players too,some are losing millions a year

 

Birmingham only made a profit due to parachute payments and 16m in player sales...

 

We'd be in a much better state if when we sold our players we got anything like decent money for them. Then we'd be looking at a player sale every other season and would actually allow us to build a team

 

We'd be in a much better state if the fans went to the match and supported the team instead of boycotting because they feel the club is inept. It's a vicious circle. They can't complain about our lack of ambition, which is down to a lack of funds, on the one hand and then say they're not going on the other. Too many people are expecting someone to buy the club and put his hand in his pocket to the tune of millions when they are not prepared to buy a ticket themselves, not even to a match against one of our biggest local rivals.

And before anyone starts I am not having a go at people who are missing the match because they can't afford it, I am talking aout the whingers who have stated they're not going today because they're upset with the club but then moan on about our lack of signings etc.

As far as I know, most of the revenue from transfers has been reinvested into the team so we wouldn't necessarily be running at a loss, but we'd also be even less competitive in the transfer market.

If the worse comes to the worst and we are relegated I think we'll be OK, people talk about crowds falling but providing we can actually compete in the top third of the league the crowds will no doubt increase. It's funny how quickly you forget what league you're in when you start winning a few games on the bounce. You've only got to look at our dear neighbours as an example of that - getting nearly 30,000 folk in against some of the smallest teams yet still acting as if they've won the league with a win.

The Wednesday fans I know were a lot happier then than they are now!
