I'd agree that Higgy doesn't qualify,as brilliant a player as he was, as he weren't here long enough.

So who are the REAL legends?

Ronnie Glavin, Mick McCarthy, Neil Redfearn.

    Bring em on :D

Add Bobby to that list and it's pretty close.

Higgy qualifies for me. Higgy and Glavin are the two best players Barnsley have had in my 42 years of watching. And I am talking about natural ability. Players that could win games with magic. 2 players we were very lucky to get as both could have played at the very top whilst they were at Oakwell.

What criteria has to be met

Before someone is allowed to be called a legend and dictates it?

John Hendrie. Sensational player, plus his arrival was at an absolutely vital time that season. The difference between us lasting the distance after our blistering start, and fading away into the play-off race.

Agree with you, so if we're using that as a criterion then Paul Futcher must be on the list. Unbelievable that he played so much of his career outside the top flight. To this day the most intelligent centre half I have ever seen.

Totally agree with you. Ian Evans was also up there in that respect.

    My Barnsley legends are:

I'll try to do it chronological order: I believe a legend is not neccessarily the most gifted player , but just what they meant to me and the club at that time.
    Micky Butler
    Brian Joicey
    Allan Little
    Alan Clarke (1st time)
    Norman Hunter
    Ronnie Glavin
    Trevor Aylott
    Ian Banks (1st time)
    Mick Mcarthy
    Ian Evans
    Paul Futcher
    Joe Joyce
    David Currie (1st time)
    Clive Baker
    Stuart Gray
    Neil Redfearn
    Ashley Ward
    Arjan De Zeeuw
Brian Howard (for most of his time with us)
    Bobby Hassle
and hopefully more from the current squad.

I agree with most of the above but surely the whole of the cup winning side and premiere promotion side are there by default.

    He did

One of a number of players who scored against us on a regular basis, like Bobby Ham, Paul Wilkinson, Les Lawrence, Joe Cooke, Teddy Sheringham , Andy Cole.

Would Doni born Steve Spriggs come into the bracket or am I just thinking that he seemed to be only one who used to score for Cambridge?
