OK - so assuming Flicker gets the job, and I dont see how the board will dare give it to anyone else now, due to the sense of feeling being shown by our fans (even our board will not ignore this current outcry) Who will DF look to bring in? Will he be backed as well as say TB would have been in the market? I hope so! Still not convinced its the right appointment, but I will go with the people closer to the club who have seen for themselves the changes DF has made. But will be delighted to be proven wrong. And it means Dyson gets a nice little windfall
makes you wonder. That £2.4m dip in turnover isn't going to help the player budget. i'm sure there will be some budget for frees & loans, but i reckon that's it. 2 or 3 new faces in the window, maybe. good news is that IF flicker gets the gig, he'll already have some names... Tom Pope, Nakhi Wells, Barnes-Homer? Plus another cntre half of course, but can't be bothered trying to think of any...
Yep, I know this. Just shows the position we're in, when we have no chance of signing League 2 players.
Leeds fans been touting Wells saying he's out of their reach. Lots of bigger clubs than us looking at Pope.
I don't think there'll be any permanent transfers Just loan deals, as the club won't commit itself when it doesn't know which division it'll be competing in next season.
The question is not only will he get the budget Butcher was offered, but will he get the cash to invest that would have been used to compensate Callie Thistle and Butcher's undoubtedly higher wage package
That's what I was wondering. I reckon it might be put away for a rainy day (such as rebuilding in League 1)
There's probably two strategies on the table: eggs in one basket and balls out for Championship survival. Or preserve the funds to have a proper go at promotion next season. Both have their pro's & cons's
Reckon your right Merde. Just hope that's remembered when people assess Flicker at the end of the season. Assuming the club doesn't have a mind spasm and not appoint him
Whoi ever it is needs backing, its just to what extent. As for not knowing what division we will be in next year - doesnt that apply every season? I know we are in a perilous position at the moment, but I do believe we can get out of it same as others have done in the past.
If we go down fighting he has to be given the chance to bring us back up. If on the other hand by the end of the season his appointment it looking like a Bryan Gunn style bollock dropped, then we have to re-assess the situation.
I don't believe the club Will commit itself to any permanent transfers this window beyond the end of the season. It is my opinion they will take the more cautious approach with regards to any financial commitments. Just giving my view.
Re: I don't believe the club I think you might be right. Though relying on loanees in a relegation dogfight is fraught with risk. I don't remember Richard Naylor exactly fighting tooth and nail to keep up up ten years ago. On the other hand, I believe that whatever their limitations, the current side are absolutely committed to keeping us in this league. I'm not sure if the same can be said for some of the wasters responsible for the 2003-04 debacle.
We have lost one permanent contracted striker so should look to replace like for like at least. We have to show intent!
Victor Chandler. If he's in charge for ten games, or its announced he will be in charge for at least ten games (ie if we say it's for the season) then it counts.
