I suppose after the events of the last couple of weeks it shows us all why we all love football and our own club so much.

We have been bottom of the league with confidence between the fans at a complete low and almost accepting relegation was a cert. The majority of fans had negativity from the manager rammed down their throats on a weekly basis and ended up without hope. We saw Keith Hill eventually dismissed and a marked upturn in performances under Flicker and his new assistants. They helped him to see what he had been blinkered to for so long, what he had worked at tirelessly for so long, wasn't working. The tactics that saw us struggle to get out of our own half. Finally, we played with more purpose. We got the ball and moved forwards. Hallelujah! The commitment and work rate from the players had always been there but now it felt as if they were starting to believe in themselves again and believe that they could win football matches again.

We then got the disappointment of two experienced managers turning us down. Where do we go next? Clutching at straws and selling ourselves short looking at total inexperience for the answer. Waiting for the news of who would lead our team.
And then along comes the Leeds game...
We take the game straight to them, battering them, attack, attack, attack, an absolutely barn-storming and passionate destruction of Leeds at Oakwell, perfect! I have never witnessed such fight and dogged determination from a group of players. They wanted it. The second goal goes in and the team run to Flickers. A passionate, united display if ever their was one of who they wanted to lead them.
The passion and unity had rushed back between the players and manager and at last, with the fans also.

The club acted quickly in appointing Flicker as manager and that has to be commended. He deserves it. It is strikingly obvious he isn't half of Keith Hill, even though Keith Hill himself tried to get us all to believe it. Without Keith Hill by his side their is no side show now. Just commitment, hard work and the willingness to win. I personally like Flicker and voted for him before the Leeds game. My reasons were because it was clearly obvious that the players liked him and were willing to work for him and had confidence in him to lead them. If we are a team that attacks with the ball, scores, gets results and gives 100% then for me, no other manager could bring any more to the team.

And today, on the back of this resurgence of positivity the club reduce ticket prices to a very reasonable price for the rest of the season. Excellent move. It finally, finally feels as if the whole club, and that includes the board, the management, the players and the fans are completely united in giving their all to get out of the relegation zone over the next four months.
It is an excellent move to further raise the feel good factor. The fans are positive, united and have faith again. If the fans believe then so will the players.
Every one at the club needs to give their all now for the next four months but most importantly, we all need to stick together.

I am always positive and look for the positive angle in every thing but at the moment I truly, truly believe that now, after what has happened since the weekend we will get out of this mess. The club is now fully equipped to get out of it.

Well done to the board for what they have done and let's hope that the price reduction brings fans back for the final push.

    Paolo

And pencil in Birmingham for one of the relegation spots. In fact they'll go into administration if there relegated at the end of the season.

Or at the very least if we go down it won't be without a fight. With hindsight it's a shame it didn't come a few matches sooner, as we may have been able to turn a few of those defeats into victories.

    Great post Paolo.

The club have done really well over the past few days, have definitely re-connected with the fans and made some good decisions. Long may it continue. Well done Patrick, Don and Barry, credit where it is due.

I think its probably fair to thank the Don for this last week and in particular today.

I'd rather not heap praise on people that have kept quiet and let Don take the flak when its been **** over the last few weeks so it is only fair that Don takes the plaudits when there is such positivity being fed back.

    Well done Don.

Don is a much bigger man than any of his critics. I read posts on here about the score board not working and running out pies etc and the man has been keeping our club together for a good few weeks. I can't imagine how many sleepless nights he's had recently but it must be a good few. We are lucky to have him.
PS he is neither a friend or relation of mine.

And so say all of us. This togetherness on and off the pitch, can only lead to good things.
