For any business, added complication means added cost. So I can't understand why we persist with the membership scheme? Let's get back to basics and make it easy to get down to Oakwell......no hidden agendas, no hidden charges........just an honest £20.
Why are we persisting with the Membership scheme. Is there some advantage with paying tax on income for the club. Anyone know?..... Lets be thankful for reduction, things are going to pick up lads. We will survive
I think the logic is that we have always survived on season ticket sales so they've tried to keep those as low as possible. The membership was designed to allow us to charge home fans a couple of quid less than away and capitalise on away turnout. Problem being though that we now have to offer membership prices to away fans with a season ticket. So every Leeds fan in the ground Saturday paid £25 wheras some of our lads paying on the gate paid £28.
Well done step in the right direction at last. Now onto getting more commercial use out of the players. How about the haif time draw done by one of the lost souls we never see Edwards, Silva, Collins. put a few theories to bed that would. Also how about allowing the Ponty end and West stand into the Half time entertainment, because it looks as though its just being served up for the exec boxes. Hendrie and Hunter couldn`t see em for the net ont haif way line from the Ponty, in the past ex players would have come out onto the centre spot. Having said that keep em coming, change is needed, time to deliver.
Be interested to know how many people have one of these membership cards, I'll definitely be getting one now though, £20 for the rest of the season is very appealing, just have to get used to picking up tickets a few days before the game
Absolutely spot on. I'm sure the good folk on the turnstiles could cope with looking at a membership card and taking hold of a crisp twenty pound note. Not the most complicated transaction is it? For non-Barnsley dwellers, it's a reight chuff getting to Oakwell days before a game to sort a ticket, and as for coming before 1.30pm on matchdays, that's an instant deal-breaker, sorry. Club holding out an olive branch whilst shooting itself in the foot. Mixed-metaphor-tastic.
Spread the word, thats the most important thing. Lets see if we get more than 8,500 home fans in attendance now and then we can put to bed the "they still won't come argument" I'm becoming a member now.
It's quite a while til the next home game, let's bash the drums and get the word out!! Maybe the Chromical can do something positive for once and act like a true community journal and not a vehicle for self serving careerists.
Easy answer is to put membership cards on turnstiles on day of game - ask if the person coming in wants to pay £23 for the first game and give them a membership card - easy! Rest of games £20 in then!
Shock!! Horror!! 36 posts and not 1 "what about us season ticket holders? What are we going to get" comment!! Its about bleeding time they fetched the prices down. Twenty is plenty
Well done BFC - thats more like it New manager, who appears to be now playing some more interesting football and for now is a popular fans choice Entrance fee down to £20 as long as tickets bought in advance I am impressed - Personally I dont care about the TV's and the food but maybe they can be sorted soon as well Just a shame its so long until the next home game
Maybe the club could also not take the piss with ST renewals like last season. We should have a fixed price whether you renew in April, May or on the day of the first game. I'm stilll annoyed about that. Bet it was Keith's idea.
Well done BFC on this long overdue situation happening. Granted it can't be straight twenty now due to people having memberships that would then be worthless. However now is the time for fans to do their bit and get down. Instead of a one off promotion we now have prices lessened more long term which hopefully gets the couple of thousand missing back down to Oakwell and back in the habit of going again.
