I went for the first time on saturday with a party of Leeds fans. Thought it was absolutely spot on. Well worth it for a special occasion, its 75 quid a head in 3 course meal, programme, your own private box. Food was really good. The folk I went with are season ticket holders in Leeds corporate and commented how much better value ours was. If you compare it to say, a day at the races, it offers a good alternative. Not struck on the Acorn Brewery beer mind.
It's not bad for a one off now and again, I used to go in their regular with one of the sponsors but I did sometimes miss being in the stand...goals weren't celebrated quite as enthusiastically as outside. The fact that you could drink whilst watching the game was also a bit of a novelty, although I usually came out of their p!ssed out of my tree!
Yep I wouldn't fancy it week in week out but really enjoyed myself on Saturday, made a nice change and great to have a few drinks.
We did the same. Had the meal, went and sat in the stand for the match, then back in after for the motm interview. Had a fantastic day and both me and my dad were wondering how much it is to do each week.
Ah, I see. I wasn't struck on it and it had been mentioned in numerous posts over the months on this website, hence I made reference to it. I'm not from Barnsley and so probably don't fit in with your inaccurate stereotype in any event. Why do you think you are so antagonistic? Do you find it fulfilling? I find it rather dreary.
Not really, I think you are reading far too much into things and getting yourself unnecessarily embroiled with minutiae that you think is there, but really it isn't. From reading other posts that you make, you appear to be ashamed/embarrassed of your heritage and the people of Barnsley, which causes you to generalise irrationally and antagonise. As I say, its rather dreary.
Went in for the Burnley game... It was a one off for me and offspring paid £42 was very entertaining... and food was good too..
I think you were in the next box to us Chef. I'd have given you a wave if I'd have known you were there mate. I love Barnsley. Just to finish on a positive.
It's really good value epecially when you look at what it costs at other clubs, I saw an "offer" on a Wednesday mail shot for £110 + VAT for a similar experience. There are also offers to be had from time to time. It was £35 +VAT for the recent cup game which was well taken up. I had an a la carte meal in there for my birthday in October and have also had a few of the bar meals they do at £6.95 and have to say they have all been excellent. Decent service also. CGC are doing a good job up there.
Went in Sheffield United's "Legends suite" - same craic as ours but it was £125+vat 4 years ago. Had to go in there cos had a full knee replacement and was on crutches. Plus my owd fellah is probably the Reds' oldest ACTIVE fan at 89, goes to most games so we go in the away Clubs hospitality. It does vary both in price and standards but Barnsley's is to be commended on both counts - keep up the good work!
which box were you in ? I was in 3 meal was OK needed some roast taties/wedges or new taties IMHO the price for the Burnley game was Ok : think the £75 is a tab expensive. beer was OK - Mrs X is a serial p*****k - he should go and sit with the racist that sits on the bottom row ESL - theyre made for each other
Thats a shame mate would have been good to meet - I was in the Tommy Taylor suite with JH and NH (and a loads of grumpy looking Leeds fans inc Mrs Chef Tyke!). Were you in the box to the left of us as they opened up the box to our right (the one with the small bar in it?)
