Noooooo, I would rather see him go for 3 million with add ons, and not see him back on loan.
Either way nobody will know as they willplay the 'undisclosed fee' card.

what businessman tips off the competition what is required cannot believe this if true
is it not for us to try and get a bidding war in place and get the best for the club?
I know we are trying to balance the books but the rest of the league seems to be able
to get deals we just give away

Should just say ******** and only consider selling in the summer for 3m+.

Then its a win - win - win.

We have him for the rest of the season - he develops his ability further - be able to get more for him in the summer (if we sell).

Also a saleable asset if we go down as we would likely need the money.

    But we're staying up.

    UReds.

Joke if true. I bet clubs love dealing with us in the transfer market.

Expecting us to get anywhere near value for our players is like pi55ing in the wind. I'm sick of this happening time and time again.

agree think this too would be uproar if happened. in the past we bought in and only got the players if wrote in to contract.
stones is ours so cannot see anything or price in contract.
with a few clubs sniffing round perfect for mentioned bidding war just need the board to hold their nerve.
would really though love to see him stay to watch him develop

Development isn't the problem for me. Based on media reports, any deal would see him back at the Club next season anyway. For me, it's player value. By the end of next season he will have doubled in value. Interested Clubs know this. No one wants him for now - they want him in the future. So why should we sell now, when we could get double next season?

    Two main issues of course.

First is revenue. The 25% dip in turnover needs to come from somewhere. Like it or not, it's reality. So it's either increased attendances (NOT subsidised by huge ticket reductions), reduced player budget, or player sales. Now, anyone with a brain in their nut knows that the first is highly unlikely, and the second would hurt us even more than selling. So if its down to player sales, Stones is the only saleable asset we have.

The second main issue then, is Championship survival. IF we go down, which is still looking likely, his value drops and he walks end of the season anyway, for much less than we could have got. Many people would then be saying 'we should have got the best money while we could'

So gents...have a think...it's really not as straightforward as 'Don's an idiot if he sells'

If Don cannot get more than £1.5 million for Stones

with several Premiership clubs interested, an England u19 International and being talked up by every manager in that has seen him play, then we might as well close the fu,ckng doors now. We got a million quid for Jacob Butterfield with a broken knee, Stones is worth at least £3 million, makes absolutely no commercial sense at all selling him now, the argument about us selling cheap from League 1 doesnt stack up when Leicester paid £1.7 million for a non league striker. The money in the Prem shoots up again next season.

Don - keep you powder dry, ffs.

    Do we believe The Star?
    Do we believe Don Rowing?

2 things I would ask myself.

He/Pat is an idiot if he sells/instructed to for £1.5 million.

Roll on the takeover if this sale goes through. Butterfield - Pants down, Shackell - Pants down, Hammill - Unavoidable, Vaz Te - pants down, Davies - Clause in a contract of a player no-one wanted....

    Tin pot indeed

Well put agree with the points having merit in your argument. Not blaming any individuals as credit must go to board for way financially we are being run even though slight profit I'd rather be where we are than a Portsmsmouth etc.
The only thing though is how many years will we continue to be able to sell to balance the books we've done well the last couple with players coming good.
Stones is exceptional told my work mates to watch for him future England even before got onto the England scene.
Still growing/ deleloping as a man/player with time on his side.
If we went down think we owe it to him to let him go as he needs at least Championship level but in the summer transfer we'd still get the 1.5 mentioned.
If we do stay up as think we will as mentioned the further year should bring more raving reviews and his sale could balance for a couple of years.
Something the board must think over and not look just for the current year.

strikes me as the club will do anything to make a small profit.

whats shocking is that they allowed gambles on players who we've seen nothing of,but wont take a gamble on one of our prized assets, who as many think could be worth double in the not too distant future.
